ATI Cast Products, Albany Operations is currently seeking a Knockout Operator to join our team on the rotational night shift.


Under the supervision of the Department Manager and/or Shift Supervisor, the Knock Out Operator B is responsible for the safe removal of shells, gates, and risers from parts to produce rough castings.


  • Work safely and follow the safety and policy procedures of ATI.

  • Remove shells from basic/non-complex parts using the jackhammer, water blaster, sand blaster, and hand tools.

  • With the help of senior Operators and leads, remove shell casings from parts using the caustic tank.

  • Certified crane/fork lift driver.

  • With the help of senior Operators, utilize the cutting torch and band saw to cut off smaller, non-complex parts.

  • Other duties as assigned, including duties outside the KO area.

  • Ensure that machinery and equipment in the department are used in a safe manner.

  • Interact with others as a mutually-supportive team member.

  • May perform some or all of the duties of an Operator A while in training for that position.

  • May be required to manage hazardous wastes

  • Noisy, dirty, wet.

  • Some overtime required.

  • Off shift work, weekend work.

  • May be required to handle or manage hazardous materials and/or hazardous waste.


  • Hand tools

  • Water blaster, sand blaster, band saw, jack hammer, caustic tank, fork lift, cutting torch, abrasive saw, and bridge crane.

Essential Responsibilities: * Perform job duties in a safe manner compliant with policies, procedures and practices. * Conduct laboratory analytical testing for product quality assurance/ control; and routine tests * Operate, maintain, install and repair (automatic and semi-automatic machines) equipment including pumps, valves, gates, mixers, chemical feed, dust collector and odor control systems * Monitor control panels, adjusts valves and gates. * Monitor flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures and related controls through instrument panels, computer terminals and programmable logic control units in assigned area. * Monitor and record operating conditions observations and data in area shift log * Ensure conformance to process specifications. * Diagnose basic operational problems and take corrective action per procedure. * Verify and report suspected malfunctions and variances to supervisor or designee and takes corrective actions. Performs routine and preventative maintenance and other tasks as assigned. * Perform housekeeping as required. * Ability to work independently with limited direction. * Perform grab and go field tests in order to adjust process chemical dosages for process. * Comply with appearance and dresspolicies to ensure a safe and professional work environment. * Wear personnel protective equipment(PPE) as defined by policy regulation, work practices, customer. * Maintain a safe, neat and clean work environment this includes: work area and equipment. * Model professionalbehavior at all times; report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared towork. * Work flexible schedule that mayinclude nights, weekends and holidays. * Work effectively in team environment and provide support and assistance to others. * Commitment to promoting and creating a safety culture and positive work environment. * Perform other job duties as requested to support the business operations.
