We are currently looking for a Kitchen Program Assistant at the Weinberg Housing and Resource Center. The Weinberg Housing and Resource Center (WHRC) is a low-barrier emergency shelter that provides homeless services to over 275 adult men and women each night in the City of Baltimore.
The Kitchen Program Assistant is responsible for preparing nutritionally balanced meals for the clients of Weinberg Housing and Resource Center and perform duties of Program Assistant when needed. The Kitchen Program Assistant provides services to guests/clients in a dignified and respectful manner. Sets a positive example of courteous and concerned behavior towards others.
This position will require the following:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Food Service Manager Education and Serve Safe Certification is preferred. Must receive Serve Safe Certification within 6 months.
Must be physically capable or moving throughout the building and grounds including stairs, and lift 50 pounds. Must be able to stand 90% of the shift. Must be able to work flexible schedule including weekend and holidays.
One year of food preparation experience in an institution dietary department or one year dietary experience or dietary certificate and knowledgeable of Health Department codes/standards preferred. Experience working with poor or homeless preferred.
Security experience preferred.
