Full-time, 7.50 hours/day, 4-days/week, 154 scheduled working days
Supervise and instruct kitchen personnel in the safe, proper and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
Maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas of the kitchen.
Receive food shipments into the school, signing invoices after each order has been verified.
Determine the correction portion size to meet the necessary age requirement.
Ensure that each student receives a reimbursable meal.
Prepare food according to a planned menu.
Record all food requisitions from the storeroom and record all meals and/or snacks planned and served on the Daily Production Sheets.
Ensure security of storeroom and maintain accurate monthly inventory.
Maintain daily log of all temperatures to include food being prepared and served, refrigerator, milk coolers, freezers, salad bars and hot holding unit.
Order necessary supplies on a weekly basis.
Immediately notify the building principal of any problem or accident occurring in the kitchen or cafeteria premises.
Inform the Food Services Director of any issues such as personnel matters or faulty/inferior food quality that is received.
Ensure the proper daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment and food service premises.
Perform competent, efficient operation of Point of Service (POS) technology to record and report sales of breakfast, lunch and ala carte items.
Ensure payments are deposited into student accounts, daily reconciliation of cash drawer is performed accurately (count, balance and deposit submitted to bank).
Notify students/parents when a student's account meets the low threshold.
Daily record students not in the database (or POS system) and students or staff who are served meals but payment is not entered into POS system on that date.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Prefer High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience in institutional food service or restaurant kitchen preferred.
Basic computer skills.
Holds Certified Food Protection Manager certificate or has ability to obtain the certificate within the first complete school year of employment (school year is September-May).
Prefer supervisory experience.
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to be punctual and reliable.
Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students and parents.
Ability to work quickly, neatly and efficiently.
Ability to plan and organize work.
Must be able to display good hygiene and appearance.
Must be able to read and follow recipes, applying mathematics to recipe (weights, measures and amounts).
