Job Summary:

  The Quality Functional Batch Master (Bar Line) plays a key role in ensuring a safe working environment while producing high-quality products and meeting production goals and customer deadlines. This role involves preparing and blending raw materials into finished products following written formulary instructions and processes. Responsibilities include overseeing all kitchen activities, including staging, kitting, and blending raw materials, completing batch sheets, testing and inspecting products at various stages of production and compiling and evaluating statistical data to ensure product quality.

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Foster a high-quality team environment through effective teamwork, self-management, and a positive attitude.

  • Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Identify and address root cause issues.

  • Perform or collaborate with Maintenance to complete preventive equipment maintenance.

  • Demonstrate a high degree of ownership for product quality and documentation, including standard quality checks and documentation of all CIP, ingredients, and batching.

  • Understand production schedules.

  • Support the Bar Line Manager in managing operations.

  • Learn all key positions within the processing area and train new hires.

  • Cover breaks and open spots as needed.

  • Manage critical process and quality paperwork.

  • Lead by example and influence team members.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on batching operations and kitchen equipment.

  • Efficiently execute product changeovers and startup of kitchen equipment.

  • Assist with cleaning duties as assigned, maintaining immediate area during standard production, and assisting with equipment and facility cleaning during full cleaning periods.

  • Learn and work in other areas of production as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to design workflows and procedures with attention to detail.

  • Timely identification and resolution of problems.

  • Effective group problem-solving skills and sound judgment.

  • Ability to manage competing demands, prioritize tasks, and use time effectively.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.

  • Contribute to building a positive team spirit and display professionalism.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED certificate.

  • Associate degree or trade certification is a plus.

  • 2-5 years of experience in food production or facility maintenance.

  • Preference for experience in protein bars, granola bars, etc..

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling around machinery.

  • Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds at time

Work Environment: 

This position almost constantly works on the manufacturing floor. Possibly exposure to allergens such as milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans
