Welcome to the Banta Unified School District, where we are proud of our long history in education. The district is one of the oldest districts in the county, having been founded to serve area students in the late 1800's.

Through the years Banta has remained a small K-8 school district focused on meeting the needs of its diverse student population. Today, Banta is a three school district, with Banta Elementary School located just east of Tracy, STEAM Academy and River Islands Academy located in Lathrop. As our district evolves we continue to adapt in order to best prepare our students for the future.

We are a growing district with the recent opening of a large housing development within our attendance area and the continued interest in Banta Elementary as a school of choice for families. We are proud of our history and what we have accomplished as a district. At the same time we look forward with excitement to continuing to provide an outstanding and relevant education for our students.

Job Summary

Job Summary

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to: o Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student. o Uses a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc. o Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction. o Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports. o Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students' progress and interpret the school program. o Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems. o Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by professional growth activities. o Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids, maintains required inventory records. o Supervises students in out of classroom activities during the school day. o Participates in activities that build community such as Open House, Banta Hay Day. o Participates in curriculum development programs as required. o Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.

Teacher will be subject matter competent in each academic subject for which s/he is applying. S/he will have outstanding classroom management, will maintain a safe, orderly, positive learning environment, and will use differentiated teaching strategies. S/he will have strong communication skills with administration, colleagues, parents and students.
