High School teacher experience preferred.As part of the hiring process, a Teacher Proficiency test will be administered.Must upload the required documents - upload the attachment named exactly as stated (ie. Springs Charter Schools is seeking a dynamic, independent, educational facilitator, out-of-the-box thinker to service the families of high school students in both Temecula and Hemet.Under general direction, a KEYS High School Independent Study Teacher is responsible for meeting with students weekly to assign student work, help students with organization and planning, provide appropriate periodic assessments, grade assignments, report attendance, create the portfolio, assign grades and units, keep up with weekly Google docs, and personalize the students' learning when necessary.

The KEYS Independent Study Teacher may be assigned additional related duties as required by Springs Charter Schools. The position will start off as part time but could increase as the student roster fills up. KEYS Independent Study teachers are also known as Education Specialists. KEYS ES's may be assigned additional related duties as required by RSCS. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The ES is expected to be able to serve students with widely varying needs on an individual basis. A broad base of educational knowledge, as well as a thorough understanding of educational opportunities available through the school, is necessary in order to counsel families adequately. In support of the vision and mission of River Springs Charter School the ES is expected to supervise and support all assigned students with curriculum options, course content, as well as providing check lists, grading student assignments, and small group instruction for students who are struggling to learn the concepts on their own. The ES will be responsible for developing weekly and monthly assignments. The ES will provide monthly assessments for the student in order to assist parents and other staff in determining student progress. The ES will work at the site a minimum of 3 days a week, Tuesday thru Thursday to meet with students and arrange for small group instruction. He or she will meet face-to-face with student weekly for not less than an hour, to review the student's educational activities and to provide instructional support and the next period's assignments, as well as completing all administrative duties, paperwork, coaching, training, and any other support the parent/student may need to best meet their educational goals. Some students may come t the site to work and get extra help. The ES will meet with the parent at least once monthly in order to review the student's progress and get the necessary paperwork needed. If the parent cannot come, the ES will send weekly progress reports to the parent. The ES will collect monthly attendance roll sheets and semesterly samples for the portfolio, and evaluate student work to determine adequate versus inadequate progress. The ES will determine the number of units and the letter grades that a high school student has earned for the semester based upon completion of the body of work as outlined in the course description and weekly/monthly assignments. The ES will create a report card each semester in OASIS for each student. The ES will schedule and attend annual meeting opportunities with High School Guidance for each student. The ES will turn in attendance roll sheets and portfolios on the designated dates as noted on the Master Calendar. The ES will ensure that the student has the necessary curriculum and materials needed for academic success. The ES will arrange for small group instruction or LC/RHSA classes as needed for academic success. The ES will establish daily office hours, be on site a minimum of 3 days a week, and use the remaining 2 days for grading, paperwork, or teaching small group classes to struggling students. The ES will attend all mandatory trainings and the summer conference. The ES will attend each monthly staff meeting/Professional Learning Community meeting with the KEYS director. The ES will attend IEP, SST, RTI, 504 and other required meetings in support of assigned students. The ES will proctor STAR testing in April and May at the assigned site. Proctor, in addition to the STAR test days, the ES will proctor CAHSEE testing and possibly finals. Other related duties as assigned. The ES must complete all paperwork and documentation necessary to serve each assigned student. Completed documentation must be submitted by specific due dates as specified in the ES Handbook or by Administration. The required documentation includes, but is not limited to, the following: * Student Agreement: must be completed each semester and delivered to Student Records by the due date, before the student can be enrolled for the term. * Attendance Roll Sheets: must be delivered to Student Records monthly, during the ES Staff meeting. * Report Cards: Required for each semester by specified due date for all students; * Portfolio: Completed per student; turned in to Student Records each semester on or before the specified due date. * ES Self-evaluation: Submitted to ES Advisor in April in preparation for year-end check-out. * ES Checkout: must be completed when leaving employment or at the end of each school year by the due date. * IEP /CSI/SST/504 paperwork: as requested by parent or school. * Order all student materials and track all instructional fund expenditures per inventory process. * Assessment: Give and share the results of assessments with parent and student in a timely manner in order to develop a personalized learning plan based on the data and recommendations obtained. Report the results of the assessments performed on students each semester to the RSCS data analyst by the specified due-date. * Advice and Counsel:The ES is expected to be able to serve the widely varying needs of their assigned students on an individual basis. The ES is responsible for assisting in "next-step" decisions for meeting student, school, and/or state educational goals.
