Manage kettle changes throughout the shift dropping off empty kettles and picking up kettles when a bell ringer is finished with their shift. The kettle driver must be prompt in picking up kettles and drooping kettles at the various locations.
They must ensure the safety of the kettles when in their possession as well. This is a part-time seasonal position throughout the Christmas Season.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist with the distribution of kettles throughout their shift.
Keep the van clean and free of debris. Obey all of the posted traffic laws. Stop along the road to receive cell phone calls or to call the main office.
Maintain a positive, cooperative and friendly atmosphere when dealing with volunteers and the general public. Deliver kettles to the various sites pick up the kettles at the scheduled times and promptly return them to The Salvation Army and make sure they are properly secured in a designated locked room. Deliver bell ringers to their locations if transportation is needed.
Ensure that all the bell ringers have aprons and bells along with the kettles when dropping off the kettles to the various locations. Report immediately any bell ringers that do not show up at a given site to the kettle coordinator. Report any faulty equipment to the kettle coordinator.
Additional responsibilities: Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with co-workers.
This would include, but is not limited to such actions: work as a team with co-workers for better store efficiency, resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients; respect of others' property and person and professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, and subordinates. High school diploma, or general equivalence diploma (GED) or special circumstances can be considered if neither of these requirements applies. Candidates for employment must be at least 21 years of age to qualify for this position.
Possess an aptitude in both written and oral communication, be trustworthy, especially in confidential matters and be well organized and efficient. Helpful, courteous and respectful demeanor, with ability to work well with fellow employees and volunteers, take supervision from management and demonstrate concern for the volunteers. Qualified candidates must be able to pass The Salvation Army's background check, clerical screenings and MMVR drivers' qualification; must pass the required background checks and must be willing to support the mission of The Salvation Army. It must be understood by the incumbent that the provisions of Safe From Harm will apply upon commencement of employment and also understood that the required Safe From Harm training be satisfactorily completed within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
