JOB TITLE: Patient Care Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Clinical

SUPERVISOR: Emergency Supervisor and Clinical Operations Manager

GENERAL PURPOSE:

A Patient Care Coordinator (Kennel Assistant) for AVSE supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients. (S)he will assist in providing patient care, assist with examinations, and assist nursing staff as needed. (S)he must act in accordance with guidelines and standards of care as determined by AHA and AVSE at all times.

Essential Job Functions:

Responsible for upholding appropriate standards of care, in accordance with the medical standards set forth by the Medical Director, AHA and AVSE.

  • Properly clean and disinfect kennels

  • Properly feed and provide water to patients as instructed

  • Demonstrate proper restraining of patients.

  • Maintain cleanliness of all spaces occupied by patients

  • Maintain a safe, secure, healthy and humane environment by following documented standards and procedures in compliance with applicable legal regulations.

  • Maintain laundry

Qualifications:

  • Ability to appropriately interact with patients

  • A passion for animals and animal care

  • Good Communication Skills

  • Must be able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing and grasping

  • Ability to lift/move 50lbs

  • Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.

  • Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work some weekends and holidays.
