Kennel Assistant

Central Coast Pet Emergency Hospital is a 24/7 veterinary emergency care facility located in Arroyo Grande. We are currently seeking a full-time Kennel Assistant to work 30-40 hours per week.

Job responsibilities include:

• Animal care as directed by veterinarians and clinical staff.

• Assist in the observation of hospitalized patients.

• Walk animals as instructed and assist in animal restraint for medical procedures.

• Clean, sterilize instruments, equipment, and materials.

• Stocking of supplies throughout the hospital.

• Clean/disinfect cages, exam rooms, and treatment areas of hospital.

• Daily cleaning of hospital premises including laundry.

• Filling prescriptions, measuring medications, and labeling containers.

• Assist with the collection and processing of lab samples.

• Provide back-up support to the Client Service Team.

Qualities desired include:

• Small animal handling experience.

• Professional and courteous demeanor

• Work collaboratively with hospital team members

• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Pro-active and self-directed

• Able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment

Hours: 4-10 hour shifts Wednesdays through Saturdays, 11: 30am-10pm with some variations.

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour commensurate with experience
