Kean Ocean Financial Aid Specialist

Reporting to the Associate Director of Financial Aid at Kean Ocean, the Financial Aid Specialist (Professional Services Specialist 4) performs basic professional functions related to Financial Aid for Kean Ocean, as well as the Union campus. Within the context of the financial aid organization, the individual will provide information and resource materials to students and suggest alternative methods for securing financial assistance.

The individual will provide customer service to students and assist with all financial aid aspects of federal, state and institutional programs including performing Federal need analysis, verification and determining student award eligibility for Title IV, state and or institutional aid programs in compliance with relevant regulations and policies. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. This position is based at the Kean Ocean location in Toms River, NJ but occasional travel to the main campus in Union, NJ is required.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and one year of professional experience in a financial aid or student accounting office in an agency or institution of higher education is required.

A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs and Colleague experience is preferred. Candidate must have working knowledge of most computer programs and applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and have the ability to use various computer systems. Excellent customer service skills and oral and written communication skills are essential.
