KCK: PHA Housing Education Associate
In 2022, the WYCO PHD completed a Community Health Assessment (CHA). From that assessment, the County's 2024-2028 CHIP is being developed to focus on community-identified needs through various strategies. The CHIP is a 5-year plan being implemented through the collective work of four action teams devoted to jobs and education, safe and affordable housing, violence prevention, and health care access.
Five half-time AmeriCorps members will provide in-depth support through action planning, partner facilitation, and community engagement. Position Summary The Homeless Outreach Public Health AmeriCorps position will serve at Cross-Lines Community Outreach. The member will serve on a team focused on building¿capacity and providing technical support and development for Wyandotte County's 2024-2028 CHIP.
The CHIP consists of several action teams at various phases of strategy and project implementation. This role requires an adaptable candidate with experience working collaboratively with community partners, and involves skills like meeting facilitation, data analysis, development of communication materials, grant writing, and project management, among other activities. Members will typically serve in the office during normal business hours (Monday
Friday, 8:30 am
5 pm), but occasional evening and weekend service may be required as position duties demand. The members' service time starts on an agreed date until the end of their service year or as otherwise stated. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.
Member Duties : The Housing Education Public Health AmeriCorps member will build the Cross-Lines and SAH action team's capacity to educate and inform community members and elected officials around a variety of housing related topics including: Tenant education, Housing First Principles, eviction process, and so on. • Participate in Community Partner meetings • Complete the following required trainings: o HIPAA, Health Equity Action Transformation (H.E.A.T), and all required AmeriCorps Kansas Training • Develop an understanding of what current community education opportunities are available • Research, Establish, and Implement a variety of in-person and hybrid learning opportunities to share information with community members and elected officials. • Seek out community engagement opportunities, stakeholder meetings, outreach fairs, and community events to build relationships in the community and represent Cross-Lines/SAH action team at these opportunities.
