POSITION SUMMARY / BASIC FUNCTIONS: The Food Runner assists the Lead Line Cook, Food Expeditor and/or Servers in delivering all dishes to a table efficiently while ensuring that the members and guests have everything they ordered and that the dish appears the way the guests expected it.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS FORMAL EDUCATION, MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & WORK EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent.
One to two years restaurant experience preferred.
Good food and service knowledge.
Pleasant personality and demeanor.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Perform to very high standards during both setup and service.
Keeps work areas clean and organized.
Daily stocking and cleaning of all service areas in dining room and kitchen. Performs any necessary pre-shift side work. Daily hand polishing of china, silver and glassware.
Reviews the menu and becomes thoroughly familiar with all items and means of preparation being offered that day, including the ingredients, preparation, sauces, and garnishes as well as the wine list, what wines compliment which food items, and why.
Checks with the Lead Line Cook, Food Expeditor and/or Servers for any special instructions prior to the beginning of each shift. Ensures the line is properly set up and cleaned.
Learns and memorizes all table numbers and seat numbers so they are able to deliver the members and guests order without having to ask who ordered it.
Ensures prompt delivery of food to the member's or guest's table. Handles hot plates and glassware.
Work with Captains, Supervisors, and Manager to insure prompt, accurate and efficient service.
Asks the member or guest if there is anything else they would like prior to leaving the table. If there is an additional request from the member or guest, will either bring this item directly to the table or communicate the needs to the Server immediately.
Cleans and reset tables as directed.
Completes assigned side work and assists in closing down the line, nightly breakdown of side stations and cleaning the kitchen.
May be called upon to assist with in-room dining services, as needed or required.
Maintains a constant focus on professionalism and customer service at all times.
Maintain professional appearance at all times with a crisp, clean uniform as outlined in property guidelines.
Assist in other areas of the restaurant, including seating members and guests.
Perform other related duties as requested by the department.
Interface positively with other departments, offering assistance when needed.
Ability to work any assigned shift / work schedule.
Respond to any reasonable task as assigned by the Dining Room Manager, Restaurants Manager, Director of Food & Beverage (F & B), Owners, the Managing Director (MD) or the Assistant General Manager (AGM).
