The Academy's first school opened in 2009 serving students of Delano and surrounding communities in grades 6-12. In nine years, the Academy has become a premier early college high school in the region, with 88% of its graduates attending 4-year universities. In Fall 2017, we added an elementary school to our Delano campus to serve kinder through 12th grade. We also launched a brand new charter school in Lost Hills which will serve students kinder through 8th grade next year and add a high school in 2020.

The assistant principal will provide instructional leadership to our talented and mission driven staff and lead the on-going growth of student achievement.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Shared Instructional Vision: Support a vision of excellence for all students, with an urgency to maximize every opportunity necessary to achieve ambitious student outcomes

  • Student Learning: Oversee the school's learning program, including the development and execution of an Annual scope and Sequence for each grade level, collaborating with school leaders on curricular decisions, and implementing a strong, fully integrated, program for students with special needs and English learners

  • Data & Results: Collect, organize and facilitate the interpretation and analysis of achievement data to guide instructional decision-making and individual student case management. Actively monitor student achievement outcomes and establish systems to ensure multiple data sources are regularly informing instructional program

  • Intervention & Support Services: Design and implement student intervention plans, in collaboration with teachers and leadership team, to ensure students reach and exceed grade level standards

  • Adult Learning & Oversight: Lead the school's professional development and evaluation systems including Developing an Annual professional development plan which includes Weekly, quarterly and annual staff training and onboard, coach and evaluate instructional staff

  • Innovation: Develop and execute innovative strategies to ensure every student is receiving a world-class education

  • Administration: Manage master scheduling, Special Ed and EL Compliance, Testing and Campus supervision

  • Other leadership responsibilities, as assigned.

Here's what you'll bring to the table:

Education and Experience:

  • At least five years of elementary classroom teaching experience with strong student achievement outcomes

  • Successful school leadership experience such as mentor, coach or administrative role

  • Graduate from a recognized college or university with a master's level or higher degree preferred

  • A valid California Administrative Services credential preferred

  • Bilingual Spanish speaker preferred

Compensation:

Wonderful College Prep Academy offers highly competitive compensation, commensurate with experience, which includes generous performance bonuses.

Full-time staff benefits include medical coverage, dental, vision, and life insurance at no cost for the employee. We also offer an optional 403b, with company match, as a supplement to STRS retirement pension. In addition, employees have free access to the Wonderful Wellness Center and gym.

In seven years, the Academy has become the premier high school in the region, with 75% of its graduates attending 4 year universities. This Fall we will be adding an elementary school to our Delano campus and launching a brand new charter school in Lost Hills. In this inaugural year for Lost Hills we will serve approximately 125 students in grades PreK-2 and rapidly grow to serve students through 12th grade. Here's what you'll do: Responsibilities: * Facilitate WCPA's efforts to promote academic, physical, nutritional, and social success of all students by coordinating a variety of after school programs designed to increase academic achievement, physical fitness, and awareness of healthy eating habits. * Assist the After-School Program Coordinator and After School Instructors in developing, organizing, and implementing activities that promote the mission of the after-school program. * Point person for family & community representatives including, but not limited to, phone calls, emails, and in-person. * Support the recruitment of new after-school program students, coordinating with Principals and Assistant Principals to recruit those students who can most benefit from the enrichment services of the after-school program. * Maintain accurate and timely daily student and staff attendance records and, in coordination with the After-School Program Coordinator, prepare all necessary reporting for CDE and grant administrator(s), if applicable. * Perform walk-throughs of classrooms to ensure constant/complete program compliance. * Assist in management of student behavior through use of positive reinforcement strategies and communicate incidents and repercussions with parent(s)/guardian(s) when necessary. * Prepare, in collaboration with the After-School Program Coordinator, all staff meeting agendas and materials, including up to three (3) professional development days each year. * Submit timesheets to After-School Program Coordinator in advance of each payroll due date * Maintain communication with all after-school program staff * Coordinate coverage for all after-school program staff when instructors are absent * Attend any trainings offered by CDE or the grant administrator(s), as directed.
