The Academy's first school opened in 2009 serving students of Delano and surrounding communities in grades 6-12. In nine years, the Academy has become a premier early college high school in the region, with 88% of its graduates attending 4-year universities. In Fall 2017, we added an elementary school to our Delano campus to serve kinder through 12th grade. We also launched a brand new charter school in Lost Hills which will serve students kinder through 8th grade next year and add a high school in 2020.
The assistant principal will provide instructional leadership to our talented and mission driven staff and lead the on-going growth of student achievement.
Here's what you'll do:
Shared Instructional Vision: Support a vision of excellence for all students, with an urgency to maximize every opportunity necessary to achieve ambitious student outcomes
Student Learning: Oversee the school's learning program, including the development and execution of an Annual scope and Sequence for each grade level, collaborating with school leaders on curricular decisions, and implementing a strong, fully integrated, program for students with special needs and English learners
Data & Results: Collect, organize and facilitate the interpretation and analysis of achievement data to guide instructional decision-making and individual student case management. Actively monitor student achievement outcomes and establish systems to ensure multiple data sources are regularly informing instructional program
Intervention & Support Services: Design and implement student intervention plans, in collaboration with teachers and leadership team, to ensure students reach and exceed grade level standards
Adult Learning & Oversight: Lead the school's professional development and evaluation systems including Developing an Annual professional development plan which includes Weekly, quarterly and annual staff training and onboard, coach and evaluate instructional staff
Innovation: Develop and execute innovative strategies to ensure every student is receiving a world-class education
Administration: Manage master scheduling, Special Ed and EL Compliance, Testing and Campus supervision
Other leadership responsibilities, as assigned.
Here's what you'll bring to the table:
Education and Experience:
At least five years of elementary classroom teaching experience with strong student achievement outcomes
Successful school leadership experience such as mentor, coach or administrative role
Graduate from a recognized college or university with a master's level or higher degree preferred
A valid California Administrative Services credential preferred
Bilingual Spanish speaker preferred
Skills and Traits:
Passion for working with traditionally underserved communities in high performance settings
Entrepreneurial spirit capable of managing many complex tasks with competing priorities
Strong execution and leadership abilities including setting a vision, conflict management, team building, mentoring and coaching, goal-setting, prioritization and strategic planning
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, orally and in writing
Organized and self-managed, able to handle many responsibilities simultaneously
Proven ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Self-reflective leader who is committed to ongoing learning and growth
Dependable and excellent at follow-through
