The Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, IUPUI, serves the greater Indianapolis metropolitan area, the State of Indiana, and the nation by providing a high-quality learning environment informed through the discovery and dissemination of knowledge via the scholarship of teaching and learning, research, and creative activities, and civic engagement. As part of its civic engagement, a key strategic action item is to enhance the K-12 STEM pipeline through outreach to students and teachers.
The School would like to take this a step further and focus its efforts specifically on students coming from a low socio-economic background, knowing that early engagement in STEM activities is a first step on the path to the high paying and growing STEM fields. The Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, IUPUI, is therefore, seeking two motivated individuals who have a strong interest in STEM education for youth. Though collaboration will take place between the two VISTA members, one VISTA member will take the lead in outreach and STEM related education to students in grades K-6 and one VISTA member will take the lead with students who are in grades 7-12.
