Overview
The K-9 handler, in partnership with a trained Explosive Detection K9, is responsible for searching and clearing all venue areas, vehicles, and items on property to identify potential explosive threats.
This role will pay an hourly wage of $25- $30 per hour.

About the Venue
Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Providence, the RICC is within walking distance to restaurants, hotels, shops, art galleries, night clubs, museums and more. We offer 100,000 square feet of exhibition space, 20,000 square feet of ballroom space, 23 meeting rooms, and 30,000 square feet of pre-function space.
Responsibilities
Partner with a trained Explosive Detection K9 to conduct searches in and around the Rhode Island COnvention Center and Amica Mutual Pavilion, including corporate buildings, loading docks, delivery vehicles, open areas and/or other situations as needed.
Assist and liaise effectively with the security manager, law enforcement agencies, security personnel, and local partners or their representatives in the execution of the security protocols as required.
Properly train Explosive Detection K9 in accordance with certification requirments, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Possess adequate living environment to allow for the proper exercise and training of the K9
Access to reliable transportation sufficient to allow the safe transportation of the K9 to and from work
Willingness and ability to be available for incident/emergency response duty, standby duty, and client demonstrations, which includes various days and hours
Qualifications
Prior civilian or military K9 handler experience
High School diploma or GED certification.
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Exhibit excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work in both inside and outside environmental conditions.
Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
Regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; talk and hear.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
