JOB TITLE: K-8 STEAM AIDE
DEPARTMENT: K-8
REPORTS TO: Principal
FLSA STATUS/CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt; Level 3

SUMMARY: Provides a crucial role in supporting STEAM (Science, including library science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and literacy initiatives, contributing to the overall academic and personal development of elementary school students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creates classroom activities implementing STEAM curriculum with hands-on activities and projects that promote creativity and critical thinking
Helps organize and maintain STEAM materials, equipment, and resources, ensuring they are easily accessible for students
Facilitates small group sessions to provide additional guidance and support to students in understanding STEAM concepts
Prepares STEAM and library materials, ensuring they are organized and accessible for student use
Assists students with basic technology skills, troubleshooting, and using digital tools related to STEAM and literacy activities
Teaches lessons on art in accordance with students' learning objectives
Guides students to construct works of art using various media
Collaborates with teachers to develop interdisciplinary STEAM and literacy-focused lesson plans and projects
Demonstrates enthusiasm and creativity in facilitating hands-on STEAM projects and promoting a love for reading and learning
Fosters a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere that encourages curiosity, exploration, and teamwork
Assists students and faculty members with computer generated library resources
Monitors status of overdue books and print overdue notices when required
Shelves returned books in proper order in the correct location in the library
Monitors interlibrary loans such as teacher requested materials between schools via the district mailing or use of public libraries
Repairs library materials as needed
Schedule and chairs annual book fairs and other fundraisers; recruits volunteers for fundraisers
Purchases new reading materials, furniture and supplies
Collects money for lost or damaged books
Managing all library and learning center duties required
Maintains classroom control and behavior plans and its rewards and/or consequences
Handles routine paperwork, as assigned
Supervises students outside of the classroom when requested
Participates in professional growth activities such as training programs and continuing education
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations, district procedures and Board policies
Passion for STEAM education and working with elementary students
Ability to work effectively with students
Ability to do perform multiple administrative functions simultaneously
Ability to do mathematical computations
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to produce accurate work and complete assignments with minimal supervision
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members
Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
High school diploma required
Some college coursework in a STEAM-related field preferred
Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements
Criminal justice/Fingerprint clearance
Computer Proficiency: Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Google Suite, and educational technology tools used in STEAM instruction and library services.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor office environment.This position regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet to moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with employees, external agencies and the public.
