Overview
The Division for Student Engagement & Impact (DSEI) for VCU's health sciences campus is comprised of Diversity P.A.T.H.S. (Promoting Access To Health Sciences) and the Office of Student Engagement (formerly the Office of Student Experience), both in alignment with the Office of the Senior Vice President for Health Sciences.
The division aims to enhance students' overall experiences as they prepare for admissions into and throughout their enrollment in a health sciences or health professions program at VCU. Student success is our primary goal, which we strive to achieve by providing social and academic support, fostering an inclusive learning environment, offering student involvement and leadership opportunities, as well as connecting students with a vast network of professional and community partners across the healthcare landscape.
Position Summary & Responsibilities
We're seeking a K-12 Program Coordinator to join our team! The role will be responsible for supporting the programmatic activities and marketing associated with implementing high school and middle school pathway programs in the VCU Diversity P.A.T.H.S. Office.
Through maintaining ongoing communication with campus and community partners, the Coordinator will play a vital role in implementing activities for high school pathway programs including, but not limited to, Health Sciences Academy and Healthcare Career Quest. Activities to be coordinated include high school lectures, mentoring activities, and lab field trips to the Monroe Park and MCV campuses. The Coordinator will use course management software to ensure that students are fully engaged in the programs and social media as a supplementary method for tracking students' placement into health profession careers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 2 to 3 years of relevant professional experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, and manage student programs
Strong project management skills with a proven ability to plan and coordinate special events and activities
Strong written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to communicate with people at various levels of authority and to work collaboratively to achieve program goals
Strong technical and computer skills with knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
Ability to frequently travel to partnering high school sites
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as an employee at VCU
