DEFINITION & SCOPE OF PRACTICE: Under the supervision of the Director, Educational Services, and the direction of the Strong Workforce Program Technical Assistant, the K-12 Pathway Coordinator will work direction with K12 faculty, staff, and administration as well as industry partners to implement high-quality CTE programs by assisting with planning, coordinating, organizing and managing the operations and activities of K-14 CTE programs for their assigned community college and collaborative partner school districts.

Examples of this work include but are not limited to, connecting industry partners to K12 faculty and staff to support guest speakers, field trips, and site tours as well as working with community college faculty and staff to support early college credit opportunities for students. KEY OBJECTIVES: The K-12 Pathway Coordinator seeks to improve the performance of K-14 CTE programs within their service area in connection with metrics pertaining to the Career Technical Education Incentive Grant (CTEIG), K-12 Strong Workforce Program (K12SWP), and Community College Strong Workforce Program (SWP) investments. The Coordinator's work is guided by the K-14 Pathway Quality Rubric and includes: - Offering direct support to align and develop forms funded by CTEIG, K12SWP and Community College Strong Workforce Program Investments.

  • Highlighting and engaging with labor market and program performance data and region's workforce development plan.

  • Coordinating with key regional talents, such as the K-12 TAP, Regional Directors of Employer Engagement, the Centers of Excellence, Regional Coordinators, and the Orange County Regional Consortium.

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & TRAINING: • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university • Three years of full-time work experience in a K-12 school district, county office of education, college, or university position with increasing leadership and responsibility • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse cultures of high school and community college students • The following qualifications are highly desirable: (a) K-12 or college advising, career pathway, and/or grant experience, (b) Experience working with special populations students, (c) Partnership development, and (d) Data management

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: A valid California Class C or Class 3 Driver's License, the ability to maintain insurability status, and access to personal and reliable transportation are required

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: The following physical and mental requirements described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of employees assigned to this position.

The physical requirements for employees in this classification include: hearing (which may be corrected) and speaking to exchange information and make presentations; remembering key information and concentrate for long periods; driving a vehicle to conduct work; reaching in all directions, including lifting at least twenty-five (25) pounds; push or pull up to 25 pounds maximum force; some climbing and balancing; stooping, crouching and kneeling; bending; Vision (which may be corrected) required to conduct inspections of data with visual acuity (including color, depth perception, and field of vision). Fingers, wrist, and the dexterity of hands are needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, and/or other standard office equipment. Generally, the job requires approximately 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing.

The position is performed under minimal temperature variations, generally hazard-free environments, and a clean atmosphere. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The following work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of employees assigned to this position.

The position primarily works in a climate-controlled indoor office environment with constant interruptions. The K-12 Pathway Coordinator must frequently drive from site to site to conduct work and participate in online meetings.

The position works on multiple projects in a fast-paced office environment and must possess the ability to meet current deadlines. NOTES: North Orange County ROP will review the applications submitted to select those candidates who appear to possess the most extensive and relevant experience or abilities for the position. Not every candidate who meets the minimum qualifications is interviewed.
