Your Opportunity

Join a Top 10 global design firm in our Texas buildings practice that provides Buildings Architecture, Interior Design, and Engineering services with a long history and deep commitment to the education sector. Our award-winning Texas practice is well established and respected across Texas School Districts, and we are looking for a team member to continue this tradition and expand our reach.

We are seeking a Business Development Consultant to deepen our K-12 practice in Texas - strengthening relationships with school district leadership, the community, and our brand. The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert on ISD facility administration, bond planning, and have a deep network of ISD leadership relationships. The position requires the ability to develop and nurture existing Stantec client relationships as well as acquire new client relationships. In addition to the external development, we are looking for a leader to inspire our team, represent design, and reinforce the national brand of Stantec.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop and maintain industry relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, community members, sub consultants, and partners.

  • Lead/participate in relationship building with Texas clients, identify new project opportunities, and serve as a subject matter expert for RFQ's and client interviews.

  • Understand client needs and translate into effective business management strategies.

  • Increase Stantec's industry profile through regular interaction with potential clients and industry associates as well as participating in industry organizations within the Texas market with the objective of increasing our exposure through conference presentations and participation.

  • Develop and/or assist in defining overall team project pursuit plan win strategy including strategic proposal development and project team coordination to achieve business development and financial goals.

  • Work collaboratively with Marketing to secure new clients and new work, including the preparation of proposals, interviews, and presentations.

  • Acts as an internal and external ambassador for the firm.


Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong relationship-building and negotiating experience, including significant experience building and maintaining productive relationships with a diverse client base and community.

  • Capable of creating long-term relationships and delivering long-term value to clients for Stantec.

  • Strong understanding of the Texas K-12 market, industry trends and industry leaders.

  • Strong client relationship, community leadership, and communication skills.

  • Strong understanding of ISD facility planning and bond process.

  • Experience with Requests for Proposals, Expression of Interests, and Statement of Qualifications.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Ability to problem solve, prioritize, and manage time effectively.

  • Must have a sense of urgency.

  • Ability to travel throughout Texas along with overnight stays.

  • Active in your community including conference attendance/speaking engagements and/or active memberships in associations (such as board posts and committee memberships).

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Business or related field.

  • 10 years of relevant K-12 district operations experience
