This position reports to and is supervised by an entity in local government as identified by the City Manager or County Administrator. Technical assistance and oversight are provided by the 6th District Court Service Unit. This position has supervisory responsibilities over any other VJCCCA employees in the locality.

Chief Objective: To oversee management and implementation of the VJCCCA grant.

Examples of Duties

  • To Supervise any other local VJCCCA staff.

  • To respond to all Court Service Unit requests for services in a timely manner.

  • Act immediately regarding any complaints or concerns from the CSU regarding services being provided by VJCCCA staff or vendors.

  • Enter and maintain data in the Community Program Reporting (CPR) system.

  • Process all invoices in Munis assuring there is appropriate documentation for expenditures.

  • Maintain timesheets and submit on time in Munis for all VJCCCA staff.

  • Prepare bi-annual Grant Applications in coordination with CSU staff and other community partners.

  • Prepare annual program evaluations as required by VJCCCA regional coordinator.

  • Identify programs and vendors that will provide services and assure that they meet the DJJ non-residential standards.

  • To be present in court to orient assigned cases.

  • To maintain case documentation and submit reports as required.

  • To provide supervision of cases placed on electronic monitoring or outreach detention including program enrollment, equipment maintenance, surveillance, court reporting and data reporting.

  • Facilitate all groups listed on VJCCCA Plan

  • To perform other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

Working Knowledge: Background in psychology, sociology, criminology or social work with demonstrated ability to understand adolescent behavior and work effectively in a supervisory capacity with adolescents and families from all socio-economic areas, races, creeds or religion. Ability to communicate effectively in both an oral and written capacity with demonstrated skills in interviewing and counseling adolescents and families. Knowledge of the juvenile justice system and the practices of court proceedings.

Education or Training: Bachelor's degree in a related field to criminal justice, counseling, social work, psychology, etc. Is preferred. Specialized training in alternative dispute resolution (mediation) and substance abuse counseling is preferred.

Acknowledgments:

This position is an employee of the local government receiving VJCCCA funds. All salary, benefits and other compensation is provided through VJCCCA grant funding and local government funding. The employee is hired and supervised by the local government and all local government employee personnel policies and procedures apply.
