Juvenile Detention currently has a full-time position on the overnight shift, 12:00 am
Pay starts at $18.00 - $20.00 per hour based on position title with a $2.00 differential for overnight shift hours.

General Purpose:
The Juvenile Detention Staff is responsible for the safety and security of each resident in the juvenile detention center. The employee is expected to always enforce all policies and procedures. The employee is to work with some degree of independence and reports directly to the Supervisor on duty. Designation as a Deputy Juvenile Officer or Youth Specialist is determined by experience. Full and part-time positions are determined by availability, as are day or evening shift assignments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
Ensure each juvenile's basic needs are met.
Complete required documentation accurately and effectively
Assist or lead in physical interventions.
Inventory supplies.
Kitchen duties
Laundry duties
On-call duties when assigned
Attend trainings as assigned.
Comply with all Prison Rape Elimination Act requirements.
Training in physical restraint techniques
Training in CPR
Follows all County and departmental safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned and reasonably qualified to perform.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Detention and Juvenile Department policies and procedures
Familiarity with juvenile courts and procedures
Knowledge of statutes and laws regarding juvenile detention
Basic knowledge of personal computers and software
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with staff, public, and clients
Ability to handle potentially hostile situations with juveniles, family members, and other parties
Minimum Qualifications:
Work or a related human service field.
Must have a valid driver's license and liability insurance.
Minimum ADA and Physical/Mental Requirements:
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively with extensive public contact on the telephone and in person.
Must be able to speak English clearly and clarify or give detailed facts and information.
Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and review, evaluate and prepare a variety of written/typed documents and text materials.
Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to lift up to 30 pounds, climb, bend, twist, squat, and kneel in order to perform household tasks or sit and work at a keyboard for an extended period of time.
Physically capable of applying restraints and of managing physical and verbal confrontations with the public/clients.
