Funded by the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services, Bright Futures is a youth-centered, family-focused residential substance abuse treatment program for twelve to fourteen male youth in Methuen, Massachusetts. Utilizing a strengths-based, trauma-informed, individualized approach, Bright Futures teaches youth the skills necessary to maintain drug-free, pro-social lifestyles. Programming is designed to address the numerous issues that are known contributors to substance abuse and delinquency, such as family functioning, interpersonal relations, impulse control, poor decision-making skills, thrill seeking behaviors and responses to authority.

The Juvenile Correctional Officer or 'Recovery Specialist I', ensures residents are provided with a safe and secure environment by following the policies and procedures of the program and demonstrating a positive, responsible, and respectful presence on the unit.

Pay for this position is $15.00/hour. Spectrum offers comprehensive benefits including but not limited to: health/dental/voluntary insurances, paid time off, and 401k with company match.

Qualifications:

  • Must have experience working with at-risk adolescent males.

  • Ability to interact professionally with clients and staff required

  • Demonstrated qualities that evidence maturity, effective communication, listening and problem-solving skills.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

The program teaches youth the skills necessary to maintain drug-free, pro-social lifestyles. Program participants follow a structured weekly schedule consisting of individual and family counseling, recovery-focused group meetings, life skills training, academic instruction and recreational activities. The Recovery Specialist III maintains primary responsibility for the safety and security of residents and staff on the assigned shift; ensures that behavior management protocols are applied consistently; oversees Recovery Specialist (RS) I and Recovery Specialist (RS) II personnel; maintains the orderliness of the program milieu by ensuring adherence to structure and schedules. This position may be required to work mandatory overtime to meet program needs. Pay: $17.00/hr.
