The role will be part of the Product Owner team within Marsh Digital, focused on growing Marsh's presence in the consumer and small commercial segment through use of digital products and partnerships. Client Facing / Agile Focus

  • Distill findings from various stakeholders and synthesize to define product roadmap

  • Drive work within an agile Scrum framework:

  • Gather and prioritize product and customer requirements

  • Ensure a strong customer-centric focus

  • Develop the product backlog through epics, user stories, spikes, etc.

  • Define acceptance criteria and verify when they are met

  • Refine and re-prioritize the product backlog with the delivery teams

  • Drive sprint and delivery of product features and functionality through collaboration with the ScrumMaster and Scrum team

  • Lead Scrum meetings and Sprint Reviews, actively participate in Sprint Retrospective meetings

  • Organize and lead sessions where needed with relevant stakeholders to drive insights, track progress, and solicit feedback that drives prioritization of the product backlog

  • Ensure key assignments are prioritized appropriately and driven forward as needed

  • Ensure successful project management, build communication around tracking progress

  • Become an expert in the latest Insurance and InsurTech trends, innovation, (digital) client needs, and competitive landscape

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work closely with sales, compliance, legal, privacy, marketing, and other teams

  • Ideate new product constructs and build business cases

  • Develop impactful presentation materials for discussions with business

  • Capacity to work in an entrepreneurial manner within a team environment

  • Ability to negotiate expectations with colleagues at different levels in the organization

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) years of work experience, preferably an industry background in insurance (underwriting, brokerage, P&C, personal lines, etc.)

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Experience with product delivery in an Agile environment is recommended

  • Strong ability to paint an inspiring vision and bring others along on the journey

  • Superior analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent oral/written communication skills

  • Highly collaborative work style with ability to work in a team environment and independently

  • Customer centric mindset

  • Knowledge of SQL, R, or other technical tool for data manipulation is a plus

  • Knowledge of QlikSense, Tableau, Microstrategy, or other BI tool is a plus

Responsibilities: * Manage, refine and prioritize the product backlog * Accountable for the following items, even if the delivery team assists with completion of them: o Oversee Product Definition activities, including workshop facilitation o Provide backlog items, in the form of user stories, that are clearly understood by the delivery team o Sort the product backlog in order of customer/business value or in the best way that will allow the team to meet its goals. o Ensure the product backlog is visible and transparent to the team, necessary stakeholders, and leadership o Drive continuous improvement * Coordinate dependent work with other Product Owners when requests cross teams * Review and approve appropriate Agile team KPIs, deliverables and artifacts * May re-prioritize the product backlog based upon feedback from necessary stakeholders and leaders looking at the broad portfolio * Communicate status with key stakeholders (both internal and external) * Build strong working relationship with stake holders * Have the courage to make and defend decisions based on input of all stakeholders and the value of the feature/functions to the product The Product Owner will be responsible for leading a persistent agile scrum team focused within the Loan Production & Delivery domain (the business units which provide end-to-end loan transaction processing from loan application intake through loan delivery and boarding to servicing).
