Leidos's Military & Veterans Health Solutions Group anticipates an opening for a Junior Systems Engineer/Administrator in Charleston, SC.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for installation, configuration, administration, support and maintenance of systems, including associated hardware. Duties may include updating to new systems, as well as support on current systems by tuning performance, allocating storage space, and implementing critical system patches.

Use innovative problem solving and critical thinking approaches to proactively solve a broad range of problems across technologies.

Provide analytical expertise for new requests, and for production issues reported in our existing systems (e.g. trending and root causal analysis).

  • Works independently on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments. May assist other technical staff with tasks and assignments.

  • Works to achieve key project/program objectives and deliverables. Responsible for entire projects or processes spanning multiple technical areas.

  • Communicates with internal team members across multiple areas and client team members. May communicate with parties external to the organization (e.g., sub-contractors, vendors, etc.). Works to influence project/team leaders regarding solution design, process and/or approaches.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), time management, interpersonal and team participation.

Ability to rapidly assimilate new technologies.

Demonstrated ability to systematically gather relevant information from different sources to address an issue and make a prompt and insightful decision.

Excellent interpersonal skills including analytical, problem solving, organizational, issue resolution.

US Citizenship required-Must be able to obtain a Position of Trust designation.

Requires knowledge of and ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.

Vendor/platform specific certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), Microsoft Certified Applications Developer (MCAD), Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Sun Certified Professional (SCP), Red Hat Certification Program (RHCP), CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP),

VIEW JOBS 11/16/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-14T00:00 The IT Systems Engineer position requires the design, configuration, maintenance and repair of our customer's IT infrastructure to support military applications. The position will be part of a team of systems engineers providing technical competency to new and existing systems, delivering mission critical infrastructure across several virtualized compute and network infrastructures and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performace and security through all phases of initial systems design, installation at customer sites and ongoing support of installed systems. This position is expected to provide subject matter expertise for multiple operating system environments, storage area networks and Layer 2/3 switching networks. This position also involves the analysis, design and implementation of network upgrades for all hardware and software components, as well as development of technical documentation in support of system configuration, end-user technical manuals and installation/upgrade instructions. Required qualifications to be successful in this role: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar field is desired and a minimum of 3 years directly related work experience. * Strong written and oral communication skills, including ability to communicate detailed technical information to peers and non-technical management staff as needed. * Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a closely integrated team as needed. * High level of familiarity with Microsoft operating systems. * Experience in implementation and configuration of enterprise software applications. * Understanding of network switching concepts to include VLAN, 802.1x, QoS and basic Layer 2/3 operation. * Experience with configuration and/or administration of storage area networks. * Experience with implementing and/or administration of backup and disaster recovery solutions. * Ability to produce consistent and reliable, detailed technical documentation and records of work performed while adhering to customer requirements and standards. * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar field is desired and a minimum of 3 years directly related work experience. * Ability to successfully complete the CGI Federal Background Investigation. * Ability to attain and maintain a SECRET security clearance is required for continued employment; US Citizenship is required. * Ability to travel from 25%, up to 50% as needed to support on-site installation, configuration or troubleshooting efforts.
