Headquartered in downtown Los Angeles, AC Martin, Inc. is seeking a hands-on and results-driven individual for a Junior Staff Accountant role.

POSITION SUMMARY The Junior Staff Accountant will perform a variety of tasks to accomplish specific general accounting requirements as outlined by internal processes and procedures. The candidate must be detail-oriented, work well under deadlines, and show initiative.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Set up and complete documentation of new projects and clients.

  • Assist Project Accountants in processing accurate and timely project billings.

  • Process consultant invoices and payment releases and other expense payments in accordance with contracts.

  • Prepare for and participate in monthly Project Manager meetings.

  • Assist Project Accountants with monitoring, tracking, and analyzing project costs in relation to cost budgets and contracts.

  • Assist in the maintenance and organization of project files.

  • Actively participate in the monthly closing process and other month-end adjustments.

  • Run final reports and financials after month-end close.

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts. Prepare special reports and schedules for management use.

  • Assist in the preparation of PBC schedules required for the annual review of the Company's financial statements by outside public accountants and other periodic external audits, as needed.

  • Perform other accounting or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time, often on short notice.

  • Maintain an accurate filing system for the accounting department.

  • Interface with clients, vendors, and staff.

  • Assist in special projects as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or in business administration with an emphasis in accounting is required.

  • Experience in architecture, design, engineering, and/or construction is preferred.

  • Must be knowledgeable in dealing with financial and numeric data.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.

  • Must have excellent work habits, including working independently without supervision and willingness to work extra hours to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal department pressures.

  • One to two years of experience in accounting is preferred. Recent graduates will be considered.

  • Must have a "can-do" attitude, be a team player, and work well with others.

  • Must have basic knowledge of Excel and MS Office Suite.

  • Deltek experience is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are essential. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and team members.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract 2-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

OTHER SKILLS Knowledge of MS Office Suite along with prior working knowledge of accounting and payroll systems such as Deltek and ADP is preferred. Must have excellent organizational skills and a positive attitude, demonstrating a positive company image. Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. Demonstrated self-starter capable of taking initiative and requiring minimal supervision.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS We offer career advancement opportunities and an excellent compensation and benefits package that includes group medical, dental, vision, AD&D, and life insurance coverage, 401(k) plan, vacation and sick time, company paid holidays, paid onsite parking, and an alternative work schedule of 40 hours per week based on a 4 ½‐day workweek (Monday thru Thursday onsite and half day on Friday remote). Must be able to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination.

Wage range is from $22.00 to $25.00 per hour.
