The Junior Security Analyst will assist in the administration and monitoring of security, network systems, servers, and workstations. This position will monitor ticket queues, identify and troubleshoot first level issues in security, networking, and system scopes while escalating any potential issues to the appropriate team members.
Essential duties:
Monitor networking and security tickets to ensure resolution.
Assist the Engineers by performing day-to-day activities for the Active Directory including user manipulation, file system management, and system maintenance.
Assist the Security Engineers daily in monitoring the University's security posture and research of anomalous activities.
Monitor and assist with scheduled maintenance and patching for all Microsoft Windows, MAC, and Linux based servers.
Serve as an escalation point for Help Desk security issues as well as the first responder for operational security activities during normal business hours.
Perform first level administration of the Security Awareness Training Program.
Key System Responsibilities:
Initiate first level security, network, and application troubleshooting procedures while escalating issues as needed.
Collaborate with the Security and Network Engineers to administer the Active Directory components such as Users and Computers, Group Policies, and Organizational Units.
Assists with Operating System and Application patching.
Manage Proofpoint Security Awareness by scheduling and assigning training, generating reports, troubleshooting user issues, and maintaining communication with users regarding training.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience required
Certifications preferred (Microsoft 365 or Server Administration certification, CCNA, Network+, Security+, etc.)
Knowledge of Power Shell and other scripting languages
Experience with the following preferred:
Active Directory and Office 365 Exchange
PC networking, Ethernet, and TCP/IP
Network Security platforms with preferred familiarity with SentinelOne, Proofpoint, and Varonis
VMware, Citrix, NetLabs, KVM, AHV
Palo Alto Firewalls
Microsoft SCCM
SolarWinds products
Previous experience installing and administering operating systems
Must have an understanding of the concept of a SIEM platform with a familiarity with Logpoint preferred
