Due to continued success and business growth, our Colorado Springs office is seeking an energetic Roadway Design Engineer to join our team.
Our Roadway Design Engineer jobs provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting and engaging large-scale infrastructure projects. Each day, you will utilize your skills and contribute to work on highway planning, design and construction in connection with complex, multi-disciplined projects. In this position you will be exposed to a wide-range of projects involving traffic roadway design, geometric design, site civil design, drainage design and construction. You will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures to complete your assigned tasks in a team environment. This position provides personal training, guidance, and development of skills necessary to acquire a Professional Engineering license. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional with a BSCE (MS preferred) and 0 - 3 years of prior experience in transportation design and may be a recent college graduate. Effective verbal and written communication skills are important for client interaction and career advancement. Experience working with Microstation InRoads, OpenRoads, Geopak, or Civil 3D is preferred. You should have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each engineering job. Our Entry Level Roadway Engineers:
Gain experience in various aspects of roadway design including drainage design, permitting, lighting, signing and pavement marking design
Assist in the preparation of project reports
Learn geometric design of civil engineering projects including roadways, highways, drainage improvements, signing and marking plans, maintenance of traffic and utility relocation in accordance with industry design standards including AASHTO, CDOT, and local municipalities.
Prepare roadway plans, detail drawings
Develop and produce conceptual, preliminary and final roadway design drawings
Perform quantity calculations
Review in field site conditions and make adjustments to the drawings
Develop of 3D models utilizing InRoads, Civil3D and/or other design software. Develop exhibits for meetings and proposals
Assist technical leads with day-to-day tasks including researching/downloading project data, printing documents and preparing meeting agendas.
0-3 years of civil / highway design experience with an emphasis on design-build
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related degree
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
Must have working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and other MS Office products
Must be interested in design of transportation projects
Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan ahead and conceptualize
Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with team members The ability to work independently and as part of a team
