Job Description:


The primary purpose of this position is to monitor the purchasing of basic, ad, and promotional items based on assigned goals. This includes handling a portfolio of items across all distribution centers. Analyzing inventory levels in order to achieve optimal inventory levels must be accomplished in order to control inventory turns through days of supply, service level goal, product expiration and overall inventory profitability. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Rite Aid's brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes.


The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  • Create purchase orders, ensure accurate quantities for basic, promotional, and seasonal products and ensure timely delivery to maintain service level goals in order to support store orders

  • Monitor and analyze inventory and make purchases to maintain inventory turns based on established DC category inventory plans. Look for buying opportunities that reduce margin

  • Create and maintain forecasts, seasonal profiles, lead times, order cycles, and item / vendor setup in the replenishment system for all DC / item locations. Adjusts forecasts against item trends

  • Collaborate with suppliers via email, phone and fax to ensure the timely delivery of product; resolve shipping issues, advise on appropriate carriers, manage purchase order changes and review monthly scorecards. Work through corrective action plans as needed

  • Analyze advertising projections against established product movement and prior advertising sales; place orders for ad product against store orders

  • Collaborate with Category Managers to resolve item and vendor issues where stock and service levels are not being met against established inventory plans

  • Collaborate with transportation team and other inventory analysts to move product between warehouse facilities, like soon to expire products and vendor buying minimums

Experience / Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in Retail required
  • 1 year of experience in Replenishment Planning and Forecasting preferred


  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) preferred
