Junior Quality Engineer

Function:
The Junior Quality Engineer is responsible for improving product quality by reducing variation in the inputs to manufacturing and other business operations. The Junior Quality Engineer will drive customer satisfaction by improving products and processes through failure mode effects analysis, as well as correction of product failures which occur in the field and process failures which occur in-house. The Junior Quality Engineer will also establish metrics to monitor effectiveness of processes and corrective actions and adjust as necessary.
Essential Responsibilities:
Identify product and process failure modes and aid in developing prevention and detection methods
Develop control plans to ensure adherence to critical to quality requirements for products
Perform process audits to assess compliance, capability, and effectiveness
Drive development and implementation of improvements to business and manufacturing processes
Investigate and resolve issues impacting customer satisfaction
Drive development and implementation of corrective actions resulting from non-conformances
Assist in developing and maintain key performance indicators and supporting data collection systems
Assist in the implementation of basic and advanced quality control and assurance tools
Assess fit, form, and function of products and/or components to specifications
Assess effectiveness of assembly methods, training, and documentation, and drive changes as necessary
Perform inspections of incoming material to evaluate supplier quality
Assist with investigation of product failures which occur in the field
Monitor and respond to audit results of work-in-process and finished-goods
Perform other duties as required or assigned
Required Skills:
Must be self-motivated and goal-oriented, with a strong personal drive for success
Organization and time management skills are critical
Familiar with FMEA, control plans, and related quality tools
A functional understanding and familiarization with multiple root cause analysis tools and problem-solving strategies
Understanding statistical sampling and acceptance quality limits
Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs
Ability to operate and read various metrology tools, including but not limited to calipers, micrometer, protractor
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in a Quality role in a manufacturing environment
Familiar with ISO 9001:2015 or similar quality management system standards
Project management experience is a plus
Familiarization with ERP system operations is a plus
