Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an entry-level, creative, and highly talented Junior Mechanical Engineer to provide systems engineering and technical advisory services in the Washington, DC area.

Under supervision, the Junior Engineer performsengineering analysis, evaluation, design, integration, documentation, and implementation of complex solutions that require a thorough knowledge of applied mathematics, scientific, and/or technical skills. Designs and prepares engineering plans, reports and related documentation. Absorbs, integrates and interprets data through various methodologies. This position is contingent upon task order award.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Build analytic and design skills.

  • Conduct engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Collect and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; many projects/clients are security sensitive.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.

  • Must be able to obtain security clearance.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS + 1 year of relevant experience highly preferred.

  • Aptitude for on-site Systems Engineering and Technical Advisor (SETA) work; including effective customer engagement, interpersonal communications, writing, and briefing skills and demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and team environment.
