Junior IT Consultant Prime Research
This is an entry level position and a great first step into a career in technology. Depending on the consultant's preference, this position could evolve into a more advanced technical or business-focused career path.
The basic requirements for the Junior IT Consultant are a baseline of technical experience (e.g. ability to quickly become a "super user" of GUI software, some basic experience with programming) as well as strong research and problem-solving abilities. When presented with a business problem from an internal client, the consultant should be able to describe in detail, or contribute to the development of, a technical solution to that problem. The consultant should also be comfortable in explaining technical concepts to non-technical users.
Doing this effectively will require an understanding of our currently available software (to be provided through training and written documentation), as well as the ability to leverage web-based resources (e.g. search engines, open source project documentation, Stack Exchange) to learn more as necessary.
