JOB TITLE: Technology Education Teacher

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

SUPERVISES: Non-Applicable

EMPLOYMENT AND FLSA STATUS: Exempt/Salary

POSITION PURPOSE

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students' skills and competence in business and industry, technical skills, the use of technology, and the ability to problem solve in a wide variety of settings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides supervision of students in educational settings.

Ability to use Indiana content area standards to develop a rigorous curriculum relevant for all students: building meaningful units of study, continuous assessments and a system for tracking student progress as well as plans for accommodations and changes in response to a lack of student progress. The teacher must be able to:

  • Utilize assessment data to plan student lessons

  • Set ambitious and measurable achievement goals

  • Develop standards-based unit plans and assessments

  • Create objective-driven lesson plans and assessments

Ability to facilitate student academic practice so that all students are participating and have the opportunity to gain mastery of the objectives in a classroom environment that fosters a climate of urgency and expectation around achievement, excellence and respect. The teacher must be able to:

  • Develop student understanding and mastery of lesson objectives

  • Demonstrate and clearly communicate content knowledge to students

  • Engage students in academic content

  • Check for understanding

  • Modify instruction as needed

  • Develop higher level of understanding through rigorous instruction and work

  • Maximize instructional time

  • Create classroom culture of respect and collaboration

  • Set high expectations for academic success

Ability to develop and sustain the intense energy and leadership within their school community to ensure the achievement of all students. The teacher must be able to:

  • Contribute to school culture

  • Collaborate with peers

  • Seek professional skills and knowledge

  • Advocate for student success

  • Engage families in student learning

  • Follow state, corporation, and school policies and procedures

  • Demonstrate a pattern of interacting with students, colleagues, parents/guardians, and community members in a respectful manner

Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.

Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.

Completes other duties as assigned by the Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

Valid Indiana teaching license for the assigned grade, level and/or subject(s).

Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.

PLTW certification preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

Ability to lift and/or carry 25 lbs.

Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.

Ability to see for the purpose of reading laws and codes, rules and policies and other printed material.

Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.

Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation.

Ability to operate office equipment.

Ability to reach in all directions.

184 days per year

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluations of School Administrators.
