Full Stack Developer Position Summary Virgin Orbit (VO) is seeking a new member for our Software Engineering team to serve as a Full Stack Developer. Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, the Full Stack Developer will work with a team of software engineers on our Web Software Development team to develop software for some of our mission critical tools for our LauncherOne rockets and launch operations. As a Full Stack Developer Engineer, you'll also be working in close collaboration with the application development and data management team, Launch Operations, and Engineering teams to develop and deploy our applications. You will also occasionally work closely with our Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) team to review implementation changes to ensure the quality of our rocket software. This role is in need of your great attention to detail, collaborative nature to solve problems with others, and your drive to streamline our operations through automation where applicable. This is a full-time position at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California. Your Mission * Design, develop, test, and deploy services and front-end graphical user interfaces (GUIs) used by Launch Operations and Engineering to develop mission critical components for LauncherOne missions. * Provide critical feedback and code reviews for our verification framework and test cases for a critical software component for our LauncherOne rockets. * Produce professional and traceable documentation. * Adhere to the engineering processes and good practices of VO. * Help Virgin Orbit do our part to make the world a better place. * Constantly learn new things-and share them with your team members. * Performs other duties as assigned. What you bring * Bachelor's degree in a STEM field. * 2+ years' experience in a software development role. * Python development experience including PyUnit testing. * Demonstrated ability to develop applications using Web fundamentals, JavaScript and frameworks, and Front-end frameworks (Vue, React, or Angular with NodeJS). * Demonstrated ability to design and develop APIs. * Experience developing RESTful Services. * Demonstrated ability to develop Microservices for a Microservice architecture. * Demonstrated ability to develop SQL or NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL or MongoDB. * Experience with the following process tools: git, Jira, Confluence. * Experience with Docker deployment. * Must be a U.S. person as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR §120.15). * Must be able to work varying hours/shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends when needed. * Passion for space exploration and a firm belief in the utility of affordable access to space. * Ability and desire to perform in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment. * Self-driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement, inter-team communication skills, and attention to detail. * Must be able to provide proof of US-approved Covid-19 full vaccination status, unless otherwise exempted by an approved reasonable medical or religious accommodation from Virgin Orbit.
