The Field Support technician role is to provide IT support and maintenance for our North American Plants, Warehouses & Offices. This would include installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware, software, and equipment to ensure optimal performance. The technician will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via remote access) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user assistance where required.

Essential Functions

Strategy & Planning

  • Contribute to process improvement plans.

  • Provide solutions to IT issues with attention toward problem prevention.

  • Participate in decision making according to established guidelines, standards and procedures.

  • Take ownership of all IT issues that affect your facilities and drive them to resolution.

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Assist with the identification and implementation of solutions that provide enhanced functionality and value.

  • Deploy service solutions that simplify processes.

  • Participate with office & plant relocations, mergers/acquisitions and sales representatives support.

  • Install, troubleshoot & support any network infrastructure and end user devices.

Operational Management

  • Provide installation and support for hardware, software, mobile devices and network components.

  • Provide advanced technical support for local network or system users. Troubleshoot and resolve IT issues within the specified SLT's.

  • Monitor all areas of the physical plant environment while maintaining the full operation of equipment and systems.

  • Measure and report on services rendered (monthly metrics and project status reports).

  • Coordinate routing and dispatching of complex PC issues, Network, Messaging, Server and other concerns to appropriate parts of the organization.

  • Recommend process and procedural improvements.

  • Act as the single point of contact for all IT related issues for your customers.

  • Interfaces and engages vendors in addressing complex technical issues.

Incidental Functions

  • Assist with Change Management preparations and implementations.

  • Assist with IT projects that affect your sites.

  • Attend meetings in participation with the team.

  • Provide 24/7 on-call support

  • Travel between sites will be required.

  • Must be willing to work outside the standard office hours when needed.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

  • Associates' Degree in related field or equivalent experience.

Knowledge & Experience

  • 0-1 year IT experience.

  • 0-1 year experience with computer hardware and/or software.

  • 0-1 year experience in customer service related work.

  • Basic understanding of information technology infrastructure and computer platforms.

  • Basic understanding of computer administration concepts.

Essential Functions Statement(s) * Reads work order and observes and listens to truck in operation to determine malfunction/diagnose problem(s) * Offers solutions to meet customer specifications ; provides estimates when appropriate. * Makes mechanical repairs to equipment after a complete inspection and analysis of breakdown has been completed. * Records complete repair description on work order, including correct model and serial number of equipment and record hour meter reading. * Obtains signature from customer and communicates with customer on repair needs, or work that was completed. * Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and makes adjustments. * Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired truck to verify conformance to specifications. * Represents Equipment Depot to customers. Maintains professional image of self and cleanliness (externally and internally) of van at all times. * Tracks and schedules with operations, or service manager when service van is due for routine maintenance or has other service-related issues. * Works in a manner that protects customers, Equipment Depot, and the public. * Returns paperwork to field service coordinator daily. Includes work orders, fuel receipts, sublet invoices, etc. * Submits time cards by 9:00 a.m. daily. If technician is dispatched to a job from home, time must be called in and given to service administrator over the telephone by 9:00 a.m. daily. Requirements SKILLS & ABILITIES Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) Experience: One to Three months related experience and/or training – and/or combination of education and experience. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of internet software. Certificates & Licenses: Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record Language: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Math: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
