At Grant Thornton, our professional staff applies traditional, cutting-edge approaches and methods to a variety of analyses. As part of our team, Associate will utilize various methodologies and models to execute client projects.


  • The resource will develop analysis and dashboards for one component within a Federal law enforcement agency, while working with other teams to coordinate analysis and consistent methodologies.

  • The team creates and manages Tableau dashboards using aggregated data structures and analysis methods relevant to the agency.

  • Further refine existing models to incorporate previously un-modeled agency components.

  • Coordinate with internal process owners to collect requirements and formulate methodologies to calculate mission related performance measurement needs.

  • Develop ad hoc supplemental analysis to address pressing issues.

  • Collaborate with end users and stakeholders to identify needs, goals and metric measurements to create easy-to-understand interfaces allowing for quickly identification of key themes within the data.

  • Develop model documentation including developer guides, end-user guides, and training presentations.

  • Respond to associated reporting requests

  • Perform ad-hoc data visualization and optimization

  • Meet or exceed targeted billing hours (utilization).

  • Assist with business development activities, such as proposals, capture, account teams, whitepapers, conferences, and/or other thought leadership materials

  • Data management (SQL, SAS, other)

  • Strong technical aptitude; experience with reporting development and systems integration

  • Client interfacing and meeting facilitation

  • Six Sigma Green Belt nice to have

  • Experience with Business Objects, Data Warehouse prior to Tableau nice to have

  • Bachelor's Degree required from an accredited college or university in a related field.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain certain job-related certifications if no job-related advanced degrees.

  • U.S. citizenship may be required. Ability to work in the United States indefinitely required.

  • Travel may be required.

  • Ability to work overtime required on occasion.

  • Ability to sit in an office environment for long periods of time.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain firm independence and abide by firm ethics requirements.

  • Meet or exceed continuing professional education (CPE) requirements.

We have an immediate need for a Junior Data Center Operator support an important government customer in Alexandria, VA. This role is shift work and will need to be willing to work on weekends and nights when needed. Job Description: The Junior Data Center Operator is responsible for monitoring production applications, servers, and the network. The operator will ensure continuous availability of the environment by responding to automated alerts, understanding monitoring tools, and being able to diagnose and troubleshoot problems. The operator will perform a wide variety of system health checks, and know how to escalate detected issues according to documented procedures. Primary Responsibilities: * Monitor production applications, servers, and network using a combination of monitoring tools to ensure availability * Respond to automated alerts from monitoring tools according to documented procedures * Use diagnostic tools to determine the criticality and next steps to resolve system problems * Escalate issues and problems according to documented standard operating procedures * Make accurate entries in shift logs of all events, issues, responses, and resolutions * Perform periodic health checks of systems and applications * Facilitate coordinating critical after hours support from engineering staff * Communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner * Use judgment and knowledge of networking, systems, and applications to identify problems as they occur and decide on best course of action to resolve * Work with engineering staff to coordinate resolutions to system alerts * Write detailed, accurate reports on production incidents and problems * Monitor environmental systems for alerts (i.e. AC, humidity, water, power consumption) * Administer, configure, and execute ad hoc jobs using Control-M * Must be able to rack servers and pull network cables under raised floor as required * Must be able to work after hours, weekends, and/or rotational work as needed. Shift work, holidays and weekends are required. * Responsible to maintain order and cleanliness in Data Center Required Skills: * Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance * Working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) * Knowledge and use of Microsoft SharePoint * Excellent written and oral communications skills * Ability to work with minimal supervision * 1-2 years as a Data Center operator Preferred Skills: * Experience provisioning servers (mounting, network and power wiring, installing operating systems and application software) is highly desirable * Knowledge of TCP/IP networks and troubleshooting tools * Knowledge of UNIX operating system and associated tools * Knowledge of Windows OS and networking * Symantec NetBackup experience/exposure * BMC Patrol/BPPM monitoring and alert escalation experience * BMC Control-M Workload Automation * IBM Rational (Clear Quest) experience/exposure * Siebel ticketing software experience Phacil Alexandria VA
