Junior Civil Engineer

VHBs growing Orlando, FL team is seeking a Civil Engineer with 0-2 years of experience to join our Land Development team!

Responsibilities:

  • Work within a team of professionals in developing site civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of land development projects

  • Assist in the preparation of land entitlement and permitting documents including:

  • Drainage Analyses and reports

  • Hydraulic Models for Utility sizing

  • Storm sewer design

  • Construction Plan drafting, details, and quality control

  • Preparation of permit packages for reviewing agencies

  • Communicate with site contractors during construction to respond to requests for information and drive project closeout when construction is substantially complete.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong civil engineering background

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to perform at a high level in fast-paced environment

  • Ability to independently perform multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with coworkers.

Qualifications:

  • 0 to 2 years of civil engineering experience

  • BS in Civil Engineering

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience

  • Experience with WaterCAD, and GIS Systems is desired

  • Permitting experience

The Solution Engineer provides direction and guidance on advanced civil and structural design topics and complex projects that include multi-discipline engineering solutions, and guidance to vendors and A/Es. Responsibilities: * Act as a civil lead for the project and provide the coordination between different disciplines, Project Management, Architect Engineer(A/E) and the direct management of overall civil scope including civil construction at site, seismic certification and approval. * Provide technical direction during the proposal stage, identify critical seismic and underground risks, permitting, underground concept development and geotechnical testing. * You shall be the expert in the geotechnical field which provides key project decisions on the underground foundation concepts such as shallow foundation or piles, underground risks of settlements and liquefaction, and methods of mitigation like ground improvement, stone columns, etc. * Review critical civil engineering designs and analyses which are typically performed by Architect Engineers to ensure compliance with Contract and Siemens requirements. * Develop civil quantity estimates for proposals and closely work with bidders to get the construction estimates. Work with other team members to get a shadow construction estimate. * Develop specifications for contractors, support bid package development, provide remeasured quantity monitoring and control design quantities by A/E. Support Contractor and A/E negotiations. * Provide Site support for civil engineering issues, manage Contractor RFI (request for information) process, provide TI (technical Instruction) and manage and document the project civil changes (PCM process). Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in engineering required * You must have at least 8 – 10 years of experience in the power plant industry, construction, and design. * You shall have proficiency in civil specifications, code requirements in US and Latin America and generation of BOQ for civil /structural. * You have the proven ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing * You possess keen analytical capabilities and experience dealing with the customers, contractors, external consultants and A/Es. * You must be willing to travel up to 15% both domestically and internationally. * Qualified Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States and will not require employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment. Preferences: * Proficiency with the Spanish language preferred * Registered Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred * Familiarity with Siemens processes, systems, customers, preferred * Experience with Siemens supplied turbogenerator machinery foundation analysis and design is a plus.
