VIEW JOBS 9/13/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-12-12T00:00 Edelman's Energy practice works on issues throughout the energy and power industries, policy sector and beyond. Our client portfolio is deep and diverse—spanning issues from natural resource development and fuel and petrochemical manufacturing to grid infrastructure, cybersecurity, renewables, global energy trade and domestic regulatory policy. We bring a range of communications expertise to our clients' programs, including corporate reputation, consumer marketing, CSR campaigns, public affairs strategy, policy messaging, grassroots engagement, crisis communications, media relations and digital and multimedia storytelling. Using these capabilities and the diverse talents of our team, we build smart, integrated programs designed for global and hyper-local audiences on behalf of our public and private sector clients. Job Overview: We seek a highly motivated, excellence-driven and detail-oriented candidate to join our growing Energy practice in the DC office as a senior account executive and digital deputy. The senior account executive must have at least three years of relevant experience in government and/or politics, public relations and/or related fields including journalism, digital communications, advertising, marketing, public affairs engagement, management consulting or publishing. To complement this work experience, candidates should have a bachelor's degree and a proven ability to balance and manage multiple small or medium-sized projects simultaneously. Exposure to energy issues and experience working with energy sector clients and policy is ideal, but not required, as is experience working as part of an agency or in-house communications or policy team. The senior account executive should excel at client service and be able to develop communications plans with digital and traditional facets, implement public relations tactics, speak knowledgably about digital strategy, prepare client-facing reports that show the value of digital campaigns in supporting broader program goals and impart knowledge to more junior team members. Candidates should have strong storytelling, editing and client interaction skills, perform well under pressure and be a team player. Initiative-taking candidates who "do their homework" and are committed to creating their own value will be an especially good fit for this role. Responsibilities: * Digital energy deputy: Support social content creation, digital engagement, influencer relations, paid media amplification, ongoing measurement, reporting and analytics – helping to advance insights-driven strategies * Consistently produce high-quality internal and external communications content * Provide superior client service to a range of clients, each working in very different facets of the energy space * Have an appetite to learn every day—the subject matter our clients specialize in is highly technical, and before we can be creative on their behalf, we have to be correct * Exercise discretion—for certain projects, maintaining confidentiality is of the utmost importance * Beyond digital functions, support senior-level account leads in "keeping the trains running on time" across workstreams and projects * Contribute to the creation of comprehensive, multi-channel communications plans that meet client objectives—there is no digital and traditional split in this work * Manage multiple projects from conception to completion, by anticipating challenges and ensuring deadline and budget adherence * Contribute to and build strong presentations and proposals * Supervise staff junior to you by motivating, coaching and consistently providing feedback * Commit to continuous learning; set and pursue stretch goals * Demonstrate behaviors consistent with Edelman's values and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct Basic Qualifications: The senior account executive must have at least three years of relevant experience in digital public relations and/or related fields including public affairs, research, advertising, management consulting, media and publishing.
