Position Description
A judicial law clerk to U.S. Magistrate Judge Daniel C. Irick researches issues of law, writes extensively, attends and assists with court proceedings, and acts as legal advisor to the judge concerning case-related issues, making recommendations based on the law. The caseload in the jurisdiction is heavy and the types of cases presented are varied. While the nature of the matters before the court is serious, the office environment is personable and collegial. There is daily interaction with the judge and other law clerks and staff concerning legal and court-related issues.
Qualification
The applicant must:
Have experience on a law journal editorial board, rank in the top 20% of the applicant's law school class, or both
Post-graduate experience as a lawyer or law clerk is beneficial but not required. This position is well-suited for lawyers seeking to practice as civil or criminal litigators in federal court, but the experience provides a solid foundation for any lawyer interested in litigation or a deeper understanding of federal courts.

Starting salary will be commensurate with work experience and prior pay history. Salary may be higher with previous experience as a law clerk to a federal judge.
