Manager of Business Planning & Program Management will define, scope, initiate and manage large cross functional programs/projects with moderate to high risk while supporting business and program management staff. Typical scope of the projects will be greater than 6 months, involve more than 10 FTEs which are cross functional and be a project that is critical to company objectives. Candidate is expected to display such core competencies as Program/Project Planning, Delivery, Financial Management (in partnership with Finance Business Partner), Risk Management, and Impact Measurement/Reporting.
Defines, documents and executes programs/projects with moderate to high risk, complexity and visibility, actively participating in all phases.
Identifies, assesses and manages risks to the success of the program/project.
Drafts feasibility studies, risk assessments and statements of work. May develop or assist in developing business cases for large projects with significant impact to company goals.
Responsible for producing all typical project documentation - detailed project plans, schedules, project estimates, conversion schedules, resource plans and status reports, among others.
Determines project methodology.
Defines project scope and objectives.
Agrees scope and constraints to enable the estimation of costs, timescales and resource requirements for the successful completion of each project.
Ensure project deliverables are demonstrably fit for purpose.
Gains commitments to ensure corrective actions are taken if costs, timescales or resources deviate from agreed tolerances.
Manages the change control procedure gaining agreement for revisions to the project from project stakeholders and ensures full impact of significant changes are understood by project stakeholders.
Ensures all parties are aware of project scope and milestones. Highlights divergence from that scope, and adjusts it where necessary to reflect changing circumstances, acts as communication liaison.
Produces project financial reporting. Works with functional units to coordinate staffing to align with funding.
BS/BA degree required; MBA preferred
Professional certification such as PMP from the Project Management Institute required
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in project management required
Background in financial services and transaction/trading
Experience must demonstrate managing highly complex programs/projects (with teams based in multiple locations) to successfully deliver within specified timescales and budget
Strong written and verbal communications skills, ability to interact at all levels of the organization and tailor messages appropriately
Strong presentation skills, including ability to create polished PowerPoint presentations for various levels of management
Strong analytical skills, ability to conduct data analysis in Microsoft Excel and identify data points critical for decision making
Independent self-starter who can manage multiple activities to aggressive deadlines
Eagerness to learn the business and understand detailed business requirements
Experience working with cross functional teams, including product management, sales, support, technology
Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word
