Responsibilities

  • Works with SQL queries in accessing data from a database and loading data.

  • Develops visually informative dashboards and customized reports based on business requirements.

Qualifications

  • Ability to proficiently assess business requirements/model and gain an understanding of business metrics.

  • Understanding of the dimensional data modeling concepts, data analysis and relational database design.

  • Analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to understand data and extract the right information needed to make business decisions.

Conducts data analytics projects under the direction of the senior data analyst and director of audit analytics in support of compliance, operational, financial and SOX audits and management requests. Responsible for providing data to internal audit department as requested, maintaining data queries and report templates and performs research and self-education sufficient to understand data models and the operational processes related to the projects assigned. Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills. Accountable for completing assignments in a timely and accurate manner. Works independently under direction of others, but holds authority for appropriate latitude for initiative. * Monitor and fulfill data requests by internal audit department to support audit assignments. * Update, troubleshoot, and maintain data queries, reports, and models as directed. * Perform and document data validation testing on queries/reports, data models, and templates. * Conduct data extractions using various business intelligence (BI) tools and programming software such as SQL Server Management Studio, Cognos, ACL, etc. * Assist in the evaluation of opportunities to deploy data analytics capabilities to expand internal audit coverage. * Assist in planning, preparing and organizing project assignments. * Maintain confidentiality of all Company information obtained in the normal course of project assignments. * Manage multiple tasks concurrently. * Work efficiently in a changing environment. * Advise management of project status and any issues encountered in a timely manner. * Collaborate with team members to set project goals and responsibilities. * Contribute ideas/opinions and listen/respond to other team members' views. * Pursue professional development opportunities, including external and internal training and professional association memberships, and share information gained with co-workers. * Possess excellent verbal and written communication and computer skills. * Perform other job related duties as requested. Required: * Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. * Ability to adapt to challenges, to be self-motivated, and to drive results to completion efficiently and effectively. * Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers, staff, and external contacts, and to work effectively in a professional team environment. * Knowledge of and skill in applying analytics methods. * Knowledge of and skill in writing SQL queries and authoring reports using BI software such as Cognos and ACL. * Knowledge of management information systems terminology, concepts, and practices. * Knowledge of and skill in applying internal auditing principles and practices, and management principles, and general industry practices. * Knowledge of the IIA's International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics. * Knowledge of gaming regulations, terminology, concepts, and practices; the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and/or anti-money laundering controls, and other laws and regulations, as may be applicable. * Skill in collecting and analyzing data, evaluating information and systems, and drawing logical conclusions. * Skill in planning and project management, and in maintaining composure under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines, and in negotiating issues and resolving conflicts. * Excellent customer service skills. * Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts. * Professional appearance and demeanor. * Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays. * High school diploma or equivalent. * Advanced knowledge of Access and Excel. * Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
