Job Description:

Leidos, is seeking Controls Engineers in Walled Lake, MI.

Experience in HVAC, Process Controls, Chillers, Airhouses, Water Treatment, Boilers, PLC system design, field startup and supervision is preferred. Position has hardware, software, and design requirements. The primary responsibilities include producing system drawings and specifications, developing/testing control systems adhering to quality standards, site start-up, commission I/O, sequencing and interface screens, and troubleshooting/resolving technical issues.

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.


  • Experience with programs such as Intellution iFix, Intellution Fix32, and Allen Bradley PLC is preferred.

  • Programming (Basic, C++, PLC. Java, .Net).

  • Computer literate, combination of training and experience.

  • Ability to break down large tasks into smaller pieces, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.


  • Scheduled hours are typically 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with 1 hour for lunch, however, flexibility must be maintained to change hours as necessary.

  • Must be able to travel as project requirements dictate. Must be willing to travel locally, nationally, and internationally un-aided via motor vehicle (locally) or air transportation (nationally and internationally).

  • Indoors and outdoors, part time typical office environment, part time remote site office and building construction environments, potentially hazardous.

  • Subject to exposure to light and glare from CRT or monitor.


  • Hearing enough to understand and communicate by telephone and in person.

  • Speech enough to communicate clearly and distinctly by telephone and in person with all levels of employees within the company.

  • Manual and finger dexterity to operate personal computer and other office equipment.

  • Vision enough to read, write, and prepare data on a computer screen, etc

The individual will work under the direction of a senior designer to analyze internal customer product engineering drawings and specifications to conceptualize solutions illustrating equipment, tooling, and process sequencing. Actively participate/contribute in group brainstorming session for process concepts. Generate CAD concept models of machines, fixtures and tools to be used as a base for quotation costing. Develop overall process layouts proposal support. Detail Final concepts to a level that can be unambiguously conveyed to engineering teams and vendors for final costing through to physical build. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with at least 5 years of applicable engineering and design experience. Experience using 3D CAD modeling software (Auto Cad, Siemens NX or Creo is preferred). Proficient in GD&T principles and familiarity with manufacturing process tolerances and capabilities. Must be able to effectively communicate on both large and small projects, Must be a U.S. Citizen.
