JOB SUMMARY Benefits Supplemental Questions

  • Under moderate supervision, performs a variety of legal clerical duties

  • Assists with coordinating processes in the Criminal Section

  • Provides customer service to the public relating to their case

  • Serves as window clerk receipting money for criminal cases


  • Processes the receipt, review, and filing of court documents

  • Answers and directs phones calls accordingly

  • Provides customer service to the public at the front desk

  • Receives and processes payments for fines, issues receipts and records dispositions

  • Manages and balances a cash drawer at a high-volume window daily

  • Enters citations brought in by law enforcement

  • Assists with court and maintains case files

  • Communicates with county employees, external agencies and the public

  • Performs other related special projects as assigned

  • Readily complies with departmental and county-wide policies and procedures

  • The physical demands and environmental factors listed below as well as regular attendance are also essential functions for this position


  • Position requires prolonged reading, verbal communication, filing, sitting, standing, and bending in the performance of daily activities

  • Continual work at a computer keyboard

  • Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally with assistance and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects


  • Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned, smoke free office

  • Works closely with persons accused or convicted of crimes

  • High-volume court and stressful situations

  • Williamson County has adopted a Tobacco-Free Workplace policy; this policy prohibits smoking or use of any tobacco product on Williamson County premises


  • High school diploma or equivalent experience

  • One year clerical work experience including cash handling

  • Ability to sort, alphabetize, file and use 10-key calculator

  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing

  • Ability interact with angry individuals and regular stressful situations, while maintaining a courteous and professional manner

  • Able to work effectively and productively with co-workers and employees in a professional manner

  • Possess strong organizational skills and proven ability to maintain accurate, detailed records that will be audited periodically

  • Possess resourcefulness and the ablility to work independently under pressure in a high-volume office, produce accurate work, meet established deadlines and maintain strict confidentiality

  • Ability to type and enter data with appropriate speed and efficiency

  • Maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record


  • Employment is contingent on passing post-offer, pre-employment criminal background investigation


  • Experience in a court or legal setting

  • Bilingual Spanish


  • Work outside of regular office hours (Monday-Friday) may be required to meet deadlines and accuracy requirements

  • Non-Essential Personnel for Emergency Situations; unless employees are designated by the Official or employees are in other offices that are open
