Successfully performs work as an individual, as a member of a single craft or a multi-craft work crew. Performs work with minimal supervision.</p><ul><li><p>Comply with craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures.</p></li><li><p>Consistently exceeds Journeyman standards.</p></li><li><p>Operates ship's cargo gear, single boom, twin booms, stiff legs, and robot cranes</p></li><li><p>Assembles and disassembles sheaves, blocks, shackles, and booms.</p></li><li><p>Pulls and renews all of the working and standing rigging.</p></li><li><p>Recertifies davits and lifeboat complete.</p></li><li><p>Operates ship's equipment such as mooring winches, ship's cranes, and cargo gear to accomplish specified repairs.</p></li><li><p>Tests cargo gear, which includes setting different angles and weight testing of all types.</p></li><li><p>Rolls ships propellers and handling such items as shafts and rudders at maximum load limits with hoisting equipment.</p></li><li><p>Works from ship specifications, work orders and applicable working drawings and blueprints.</p></li><li><p>Properly cares for and safely uses all hand and power equipment and all company property.</p></li><li><p>Perform quadrennials on cargo gear.</p></li><li><p>Researches and suggests written comprehensive condition found reports. (CFRs)</p></li><li><p>Responsible for being conversant in all quality assurance requirements and document compliance.</p></li></ul><p>ESSENTIAL SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Incumbent performs similar work in all areas of the Yard as the need arises.</p><p>KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p><ul><li><p>Communicate effectively, work independently or in a group.</p></li><li><p>Ability to do basic math, i.e. add, subtract, divide and multiply.</p></li><li><p>Ability to perform metric conversions.</p></li><li><p>Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.</p></li><li><p>Shackles and wire rope slings - size, capacity and use.</p></li><li><p>Block and tackle - assembly, capacity and use.</p></li><li><p>Come-A-Longs and Air Tuggers - capacity and use.</p></li><li><p>Crane Signals.</p></li><li><p>Possesses knowledge of mobile crane operations.</p></li></ul><p>EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:</p><p>High school diploma or GED preferred. 5-10 years relevant work experience, preferably doing marine rigging.
