Job Summary:
The role of the Journeyman Plumber supports the mission of Regis University by providing a variety of plumbing, HVAC/R, machine, and building mechanic skills to ensure the proper operation, upkeep, integrity, safety and code compliance of the University plumbing and related mechanical systems
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential:
Installs, repairs, and replaces the campus plumbing systems and oversees emergency maintenance.
Provides excellent customer service
Leads a team that assures all plumbing related preventative maintenance is accomplished
Oversees renovation projects, including the review of shop drawings, construction documents and blueprints to ensure compliance with all relevant standards and codes.
Tests and maintains all interior backflow devices and provides annual documentation of proper testing to Denver Water authorities. Represents the University during interactions with plumbing officials, Denver water inspectors, administrators and health inspectors. Keeps complete and accurate record of all work performed.
Assists in job planning by estimating supplies, maintaining inventory, and completing required paperwork. Orders supplies and tracks inventory.
Serves as part of the on-call rotation
Contributes to a safe campus environment by assisting with snow removal and surface maintenance.
Recommends, incorporates, and monitors water conservation efforts.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Must hold an EPA 608 - Universal certification or be able to obtain one within six months.
Graduate of a trade school or a journeyman licensure program and have in his or her possession and be able to retain at all times a state issued journeyman plumbing license or the acceptable substitute.
Must have and retain at all times a state issued certification in backflow testing and repair or be able to attain this certification within one year from the date of hire.
Experience:
Progressive experience in service technician-level plumbing or HVAC/R is required, 7+ years of experience preferred.
A proven exemplary customer service record.
Experience in facilities maintenance and/or commercial buildings is preferred.
Required for position:
A valid Colorado Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record are required to maintain insurability through the University's insurance carrier. Any changes in the Incumbent's driving record at any time during their employment must be reported immediately to the appropriate supervisor.
Weekend and/or evening work may be required.
The following physical requirements can be performed with or without accommodation.
Lifting & Carrying: Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Pushing & Pulling: Must be able to push/pull 75 lbs.
Body Position: Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, kneel and carry.
Body Movements: Must bend, kneel, stoop, twist, and climb. Full range of body movement essential.
Hand Use: Essential. Extensive non-repetitive use for hand and power tool use.
Sense of Touch: Helpful for distinguishing hot and cold and for small items such as nuts and bolts.
Hearing: Essential daily use of radios, telephone machinery and instructions.
Vision: Essential to read instructions and controls. Must see details of objects at a close range (within a few feet of the observer) and see details at a distance.
Mobility- The ability to travel easily between campuses or buildings within each campus.
