Job Title: Journeyman Plumber

Location: Maintenance

Shift: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Qualifications:

• Must have worked as a journeyman plumber or passed a school district written and practical examination.Must have worked for, at least, five (5) years as a certified plumber.

• Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.

• Must be able to interpret blueprints and follow plumbing and heating diagrams as provided by architects and engineers.

• Must be knowledgeable of and proficient with the various instruments and tools used in the trade and able to perform the plumbing tasks associated with both new structure installations and renovations of older facilities.

• Must be familiar with hot water and low pressure steam boilers and able to repair plumbing problems occurring in unit ventilators and boilers.

• Must have a general knowledge of HVAC repairs.

• Must be able to climb and work from scaffolds, ladders and swinging stages.

• Must be able to price, select, and order all necessary equipment, materials and supplies needed to maintain and make plumbing repairs.

• Must be able to inspect and maintain boilers and controls on a periodic basis in conjunction with an electrician.

• Must be able to install and maintain fixtures in shops, classrooms, restrooms, playgrounds, and athletic fields throughout the district.

• Must be able to follow through in completing tasks assigned through work order and purchase order systems.

• Must be able to assess needs and recommend improvements and maintenance of the plumbing systems to the Maintenance Supervisor.
