The Journeyman Plumber performs skilled technical work in the installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance of domestic water systems, heating water systems, sanitary sewer systems, storm sewers, gas pipe (both threaded and fusion welded), steam and condensate pipes, and fire protection systems in all University structures and grounds following recognized procedures and techniques of the plumbing trade. The Journeyman Plumber maintains the heating, water, gas and plumbing systems using hand and power tools such as sewer auger or vacuum plunger, acetylene torch, soldering and welding equipment, sewer camera, pipe locator, and related plumbing tools. The Journeyman Plumber also practices preventive maintenance of plumbing tools and equipment, and complies with federal regulations governing environmental protection, hazardous waste disposal and the use of chemical substances and materials common to the plumbing trade. The Journeyman Plumber monitors and reports maintenance issues needing attention to the appropriate authority.

The electrician works on electrical systems and components with AC and DC voltage</p><p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p><ul><li><p>Performs inspection, testing and maintenance in accordance with 49CFR regulations and Amtrak standards and guidelines</p></li><li><p>Utilizes a variety of test equipment, PC, and graphic information to diagnose malfunctions, troubleshoot and qualify components and circuits to determine corrective actions and causes of equipment failures</p></li><li><p>Repairs and/or replaces doors, electronics, signs, pantographs, and HVAC systems</p></li><li><p>Installs components such as motors, generators, switches, relays, batteries, and transformers</p></li><li><p>Performs approved electrical modifications and repairs or replaces components, as necessary</p></li><li><p>Troubleshoots equipment to determine corrective actions and causes of equipment failures</p></li><li><p>Maintains proper care and use of materials, test equipment, machines and hand tools normally associated with assigned job</p></li></ul><p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p><ul><li><p>HVAC experience</p></li><li><p>High School Diploma or GED</p></li><li><p>Experience in electrical repairs, and testing advanced electrical/electronic systems and reading, drafting, and interpreting circuit diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings</p></li><li><p>Experience in both A/C and D/C electrical systems</p></li><li><p>Must successfully complete training and attain/retain certifications applicable to assigned job</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems</p></li><li><p>Ability to troubleshoot using schematics and multimeters</p></li><li><p>Knowledge and skill in the use of electrical tools, equipment, and the measurements necessary to meet established standards</p></li><li><p>Some computer skills</p></li></ul><p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p><ul><li><p>Experience in the maintenance of railroad equipment</p></li><li><p>Completion of technical school or apprenticeship program</p></li></ul><p>COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:</p><p>Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills</p><p>$25,000 Sign On Bonus available</p><p>Lump Sum Bonus to Cover Relocation Expenses</p><p>A one-time lump sum payment, which will be increased to account for taxes, is provided to cover expenses associated with relocation for new employees with two or more years of relevant experience working for a Class I railroad. In addition, our vendor partner, Relo Direct, will assign a personal client service manager to help navigate the relocation process, including the client portal. Additionally, they will provide referrals to approved suppliers who can assist the employee with additional needs, like temporary housing, household goods move, and similar services. Note: The distance between the old residence and the new principal place of work must be at least 50 miles. Relocation must be generally completed within one year following the effective date of transfer/start of work in the new location. If the employee voluntarily terminates employment with Amtrak or is terminated for cause for reasons other than job elimination, reduction in force, or restructuring within the period from the effective date of transfer until 24 months, all relocation benefits will cease and the employee will be required to repay relocation benefits according to the following schedule: 12 months of service or less</p><ul><li><p>100% repayment, 13-24 months of service</p></li><li><p>50% repayment. Both repayments would be inclusive of tax assistance.</p></li></ul><p>The hourly rate is $25.55-$34.07 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment).
