"Dept/School: Facilities Pay Grade:

Facilities - 7 Primary Purpose: Under general supervision, maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, services, and equipment for the District. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical systems and fixtures in District facilities.

Qualifications: Education/Certification High School Diploma or GED, required Valid Texas Journeyman Electrician License, required Documented electrical courses from Trade School, preferred Valid Class C Texas driver's license and proof of insurability with District insurance carrier Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge and skills to qualify as an electrical journeyman in accordance with industry standards Knowledge of electrical circuits, wiring and operating principles of motors, current electrical codes and ordinances Ability to read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and written reference material Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills Ability to supervise and evaluate the performance of electrical staff Ability to follow and issue written and verbal instructions Ability to perform mathematical calculations Ability to diagnose and resolve problems Ability to use hand and power tools Basic computer skills Ability to utilize technology resources relevant to position Experience Minimum 5 years electrical industry experience; public education experience, preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties: Maintenance and Repair 1. Perform preventative maintenance on electrical apparatuses, electrical fixtures, and all types of power systems. 2.

Determine best approach to solving tasks after carefully evaluating work site to ensure safety for site occupants and/or facility users while project is underway. 3. Outline projects and work with minimal oversight. 4. Review and inspect assigned tasks to adequately order required materials and supplies for the job. 5.

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and written reference material outlining the scope of various projects. 6. Install new equipment, including but not limited to conduit and outlets for circuitry, and classroom lighting; and perform required maintenance. Records and Reports 7.

Record all materials and supplies used and man-hours accumulated on projects until scope of work is accomplished to keep supervisors informed on total job costs. Other 8. Provide ongoing guidance and on the job training for electrical helpers. 9.

Serve on-call periodically for emergencies that occur at night, on weekends, and during holidays; and respond to pages and calls in a timely manner. 10. Exhibit behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible; and serve as role model for staff and public. 11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety 12. Practice a high standard of work and site safety in the performance of all duties and abide by District policies and procedures. 13. Contributes to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
