This position provides support to the 46 Test Squadron at Patrick AFB, FL. This support includes the following:

  • Participate in planning, execution, analysis, and reporting on testing of Joint STARS mission system computing, communications, and avionics systems.

  • Work with the Joint STARS program office and prime contractor teams to plan, conduct, analyze, and report on system level lab, ground, and flight test of Joint STARS system capabilities.

  • Document the system requirements and work products needed by the developmental and operational test communities to plan, execute and report on system test objectives.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the software or class of software being tested, to include experience with the existing software, previous versions, or any associated software tools used in conjunction with the software being tested.

  • Participate in design reviews, system engineering management team meetings, software working group meetings, test planning meetings, and similar technical reviews.

  • Provide requirements usable by programs to incorporate in statements of work, system technical requirements documents, Test and Evaluation Master Plans, DT&E and Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E) Entrance and Exit criteria, and other documents.

  • Clearly communicating test results to technical and non-technical stakeholders both orally and in writing.

  • Proficiency in the use and integration of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.

  • Must be willing to periodically work extended hours including weekends and holidays when required to meet mission requirements.

  • Must be willing to travel periodically to test or meeting locations.

Required Experience

One of the following combinations is required: Master's Degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 10 years of technical experience -OR- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 18 years of technical experience OR- HS Diploma or Equivalent and 22 years of technical experience.

  • Experience supporting system level test and evaluation.

  • High level of self-initiative and self-motivation with the ability to work under minimal supervision.

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Good organization, decision making, and verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in small and large team settings to solve complex problems.

  • Active SECRET clearance; US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior Joint STARS experience highly desired.

  • Experience with military voice and datalink communications systems desired.

  • Ability to pass FAA 3rd Class flight physical qualifications for flying on Joint STARS aircraft highly desired.

  • Eligible for a Top Secret clearance Single Scope Background Investigation.

The selected candidate will synthesize customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints. Essential Functions: * Perform requirements analysis and decomposition including developing derived requirements as needed to test the system * Develop test equipment and simulation requirements * Develop Testability Requirements * Support Systems Engineering to develop Verification Cross Reference Matrices * Develop Test Planning Detail Sheets * Develop Test Plans and Detailed Procedures * Support Test Equipment Checkout and System Integration MELENG SITEAS Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field of study with internships OR coursework in software/hardware testing * Must have an active U.S. Government security clearance at the DoD Secret or Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years * Ability to obtain Special Program Access (PAR) prior to commencement of employment Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics * Experience in one or more of the following areas: air vehicle lab testing, flight controls testing in a lab environment, systems development experience; knowledge of architectures, Mission Systems, Mission Planning, Communications, Datalinks, Computer networks, Sensors, Avionics, COTS hardware, Integration, and/or Test. * Experience testing manned or unmanned aircraft (via labs, ground or flight testing) or similar system test experience * Must be able to take instruction to develop, execute, and maintain system test procedures for a complex subsystem/system * Knowledge of automated software testing methodologies and processes * Knowledge of the following tools, DOORS®, ViTech CORE, Fundamentals of Systems Engineering, VISIO®, CPLM, and Automated Testing (Python, C , Java). * Lab Test experience with air vehicle testing, Failure Modes and Effects (FMET), vehicle management system testing, fuel, flight controls testing, or actuator testing * Demonstrated leadership abilities to effectively lead a small team through all phases of integration and test from the design of test philosophy to delivery to the customer. * Demonstrated the ability to lead timely resolution of technical issues by leveraging the appropriate mix of resources. * Effective Communication: Must be able to convey the results of the test both verbally and written to the management staff. * Demonstrated ability to meet very short deadlines and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
