Are you ready to join Northrop Grumman? If so, we are wanting you to join our team as a Joint Exercise Support Team (JEST) Planner. This position is located at the US Joint Staff J7 complex in Suffolk, VA.

The selected candidate will support joint exercise planning and execution to enhance training for Joint Staff J7 supported joint and multi-national training events.

The Joint Exercise Support Team (JEST) Planner acts in support of the Joint Event Support Team Lead (JEST Lead) to provide planning, management, liaison and coordination for assigned exercises/events, the joint training system, and special projects. Serves as the alternate point of contact to the JS J7 Joint Exercise Division Desk Officer and/or Event Planner for contractor support to assigned exercises/events.

Builds exercise planning schedules; forecasts labor and travel; assists development of exercise/event budgets; and facilitates as well as monitors Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) progress. Develops and maintains the Team calendar; coordinates team member assignments; deployment; and assists functional area planners as required. The JEST planner must become intimately familiar with the supported organization, JELC processes, and contract deliverables in order to successfully design, plan, prepare, execute and assess supported exercises/events. This position includes travel to locations within the supported organization's area of responsibility

Basic Qualifications:

1.Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree. (An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirements).
2.A minimum of seven years' experience inclusive of the following: Service and joint doctrine experience to include combat, combat support, and combat service support operations.
3.Experience with exercises at levels comparable to Joint Task Force, Army Corps, Numbered Air Forces and Numbered Fleet; specifically the planning, design and execution and assessment of exercises.
4.The ability to: prepare and conduct seminars/work groups; conduct training in large and small groups; conduct post exercise analysis.
5.Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills in order to teach the curriculum.
6.Excellent written and oral communication skills, in order to teach the curriculum.
7.Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products.
8.Ability to travel to both CONUS and OCONUS locations in support of the task order.
9.A current Secret Clearance and ability to obtain a TS SCI clearance.
10. Ability to obtain a current U.S. Passport.

Preferred Qualifications:

1.Combatant Command or Joint Staff J7 experience.
2.Extensive experience with operations centers, planning cells, and operational planning teams.
3.Knowledge of the scenario/MSEL development process.

If so we have an immediate opening for a Joint Cross-functional Analyst Trainer in support of the Joint Staff J7, Deployable Training Division (DTD) in Suffolk, Virginia. This position requires a Secret clearance to start, ultimately a Top Secret/SCI clearance and extensive travel as a member of Deployable Training Teams (DTTs). We are seeking Analyst/Trainers with primary focus on operational planning and assessment, lethal and non-lethal fires and effects and information operations, and command and control. Duties and responsibilities include: Responsible for providing subject matter expertise and strategic and operational-level joint training in two or more of the following joint functional areas: Command and Control, Operations, Assessment, Information Sharing (e.g., Knowledge Management), Operational Law and Authorities, Inter-organizational Coordination, Fires and Effects (Targeting/Cyberspace/Information Operations/Public Affairs), Intelligence, and Sustainment (e.g., Logistics, Personnel, Engineering, and Medical). Subject matter expertise incorporates joint training, guidance, and mentorship in designated functions in support of national security strategy, theater strategy, and campaigning; joint planning processes and systems; and joint, interagency, and multinational capabilities and the integration of those capabilities. Specific roles and responsibilities: * In-depth research, analysis, and training to support the Joint Force commander's readiness and exercise programs. * Over-the-shoulder training during joint force exercises, training events, and staff assist visits to Joint Force commanders and their staffs. * Assist flag/general officer commanders and principal staff members in understanding and synchronizing operations in international, whole-of-government operating environments. * In-depth research and analysis in preparation for exercises, provide functional after-action reviews, and support the DTT Team Chief in preparing the Commander's Facilitated After-action Review and Commander's Summary Report. * Develop and deliver facilitated seminars for the Senior Leader Education (i.e., Pinnacle, Capstone, and Keystone) Joint Operations Modules. Facilitating flag and general officer seminars at Capstone (one- and two-star level) and PINNACLE (three- and four-star level) requires doctorate-level research and speaking abilities. * Conceptualize, develop, and assess the operational aspects of joint doctrine; joint tactics, techniques, and procedures; and related publications. Provide inputs to the development and publication of joint doctrine, including reviews of all joint doctrine updates. Develop and update functional-area focus papers and other articles for professional publications. * Provide mentorship and support to active duty and government civilian Observer Trainers across all functional areas within the DTD, including preparation for academics, exercises, and staff assist visits; analytic support during academics, exercises, and staff assist visits (SAVs); and preparing functional after-action reviews, Commander's Facilitated After-action Reviews, and Commander's Summary Reports. * Provide functional area experience, continuity, and expertise in training and developing Analyst Trainers and active-duty and government-civilian Observer Trainers. Train and mentor new Observer Trainers and Analyst Trainers. Basic Qualifications: 1. A Bachelor of Science or Arts. (An additional 4 years' of direct relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.) 2. A minimum of 8 years' of experience at the strategic (national) and/or operational (regional) level in one or more joint matters functional areas: operational planning and assessment, command and control, current operations, information sharing, intelligence, sustainment, cyberspace operations, interagency/inter-organizational coordination, operational law and authorities, lethal and non-lethal fires and effects and information operations, integrated air and missile defense, and knowledge management. 3. Experience with joint deliberate and crisis planning, the Commander's decision-making process, and mission command, or equivalent experience in planning and decision making at the national or regional level in a non-DoD agency. 4. Ability to write at a publishable level, demonstrated oral communication skills, and experience in problem analysis and resolution in order to present the desired training. 5. Be willing to travel to support world-wide (to include areas considered hazardous duty) training events. 6. Joint Forces Staff College, Service, or non-DoD agency equivalent 7. Experience as an Observer Trainer or Analyst Trainer in the DTD can be counted toward years of experience and other basic qualifications. 8. An active Secret security clearance, upgradeable to Top Secret, and SCI eligible. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Master's or higher degree 2. Experience in planning and/or executing military operations. 3. Combatant Command, Joint Task Force, Functional or Service Component, Division, Afloat Staff or Wing, and command or staff knowledge and experience. 4. In depth knowledge and experience with Joint Force command-and-control procedures and battle staff processes at the strategic and operational levels of warfare, to include knowledge management processes, operations center activities, commander's decision cycle, mission command concept, and inter-organizational dynamics. 5. Experience in collecting and presenting written and oral lessons learned. 6. Experience in preparing and delivering seminars for general/flag officers or civilian equivalents. 7. Ability to research and write at a doctoral level. 8. Experience with joint operational planning efforts at the operational and strategic levels.
