We are currently looking for an Residential Registered Nurse - Hudson, NY New Pay Rate!!! Now... Just Imagine How Great You Would Feel having a Monday Friday (YES! Saturday and Sunday off!!- see below for all the added time off and perks), day time position ... where You will spend the day helping individuals with the discovery of their own GREATNESS! What you'll do in this job: Oversee the medical care of the individuals with another very experienced Registered Nurse in 3 locations in the Hudson, NY area. Encourage each individual to achieve his or her maximum potential with a focus on medical/health issues. * Become familiar with the medical needs for each individual in the IRAs. Assess the needs for physician visits. Act as a liaison as needed or requested. Ensure medical, dental and lab work appointments are scheduled as needed. Interpret medical reports and provide specific plans of care for the individual as required. * Perform assessments of nursing needs for each individual when necessary. Consult with applicable staff and provide training to the individuals in health related areas. * Participate in annual reviews as requested. Provide advice and assist in the preparation, implementation and review of habilitation plans relative to medical concerns for individuals in conjunction with the program staff. * Establish and ensure maintenance of appropriate health records either by program staff or by nursing staff. Ensure completion of medication regimen reviews every 6 months for each individual. * Complete a minimum of 8 hours per week in the evening or weekend to ensure each site is visited at least 1 time weekly when they are home (3 sites). * Provide ongoing training to program staff in the areas of medication administration, preventative health measures and in areas of specialized need (post-operative, insulin, etc). Conduct site observations to review implementation of medical policies and procedures or as required for medication administration certification. Provide feedback to the IRA Manager regarding employees' performance of medical procedures and plans of care for performance evaluations or as needed. * Supervise the medication administration practices. Teach medication administration certification and recertification courses. In conjunction with the IRA Manager ensure all requirements are met for medication administration per OPWDD and SED regulations. * Ensure availability of appropriate first aid and nursing supplies at the 3 sites. * Participate in the Nursing On-Call rotation which will include 24/7 availability of staff for the rotation of one week which occurs approximately every 11 weeks. * Review and make suggestions to the nursing, pharmacy and medical sections of the Program Policy and Procedure Manual.
